Ribbon Cutting Event. Jackson Public Schools invites you to a Ribbon Cutting Event.  Introducing the Jackson High School Aquatic Center and the Al Glick Athletic Center.  4:45 PM:  Aquatic Center Ribbon Cutting.  5:30 PM:  Al Glick Athletic Center Ribbon Cutting.  Refreshments and tours provided.

JHS Marching Band Fundraiser at Panera Bread.  4 PM to 8 PM.  Use code on flyer (below) when ordering in-store or online. 20% of sales will be donated to the Jackson High School Viking Marching Band for the Tampa Bay Bowl game trip at New Year’s.  Panera, Boardman Road, Jackson Crossing.

Industry 4.0 Technology Showcase.  9 AM to 11 AM.  Free!  Manufacturers commonly experience challenges related to aspects such as productivity, quality, or the labor shortage – and others are not aware of where their problems exist because they do not closely track performance. In each of these cases, technology can be applied to support improvements. With these specific business needs driving implementations, Industry 4.0 technologies can effectively solve manufacturers’ biggest problems and position their companies for long-term success.  Learn How To Ensure Business Growth & Resilience With Industry 4.0 This interactive event, held in partnership with JAMA, will introduce Industry 4.0 technologies, including their many applications and benefits, as well as offer specific resources available to support your own technology implementations. Jackson College Spring and Summer Registration Opens.  Jackson College will open registration for spring and summer semesters on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Register early for the best selection of classes!  A college degree or credential can open doors to new, more rewarding career opportunities. Attending Jackson College is a smart choice because of its affordable cost – starting at the community college can save students thousands versus starting at a university. Students can transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree or complete an in-demand career program entirely at the College, such as health care, corrections or information technology. Students benefit from an institution focused on their success, from outstanding and innovative instruction to support services to help them succeed.  Jackson College offers flexible learning with full 15-week sessions or two 7-week sessions each semester. Classes are offered both in-person and online, with some hybrid options.  Spring semester classes begin on Jan. 9, and the summer semester begins on May 8. Current students should meet with their student success navigator to review their course plan before registering. St. Louis Center Trunk or Treat Event.  St. Louis Center, located in Chelsea, MI will be hosting a “Trunk or Treat” event on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.  The local community is invited to join St. Louis Center residents, staff, and families in enjoying a community dinner, a haunted house, and a full evening of trick-or-treating.  Costumes and trunk decorations are highly encouraged but not mandatory.  Community members are welcome to bring family members and friends to participate in trick or treating alongside our residents.   Community members may host a “trunk” by setting up a treat station from the tailgate of their vehicle and passing out sweet treats or other goodies to trick-or-treaters.  Other volunteer opportunities include parking attendants, haunted house characters, and activity stations.   Sponsorships are available to community businesses and individuals. Please visit the St. Louis Center Website for more information.  The event will take place at 5 PM and will run until approximately 8 PM, with a community dinner in the gymnasium beginning at 5 PM, the haunted house open from 5:45 – 7 PM, and Trunk or Treat starting outside at 6 PM. All trunks will need to be ready to visit by 6 PM. Vehicles with participating trunks are welcome to arrive and start setting up at 4 PM.   Trunk or Treat at St. Louis Center is free for all who attend!  It is not necessary to sign up to attend the dinner, haunted house, or to trick-or-treat.  Those who wish to volunteer to hand out candy from their trunk, help with dinner & activities, or assist with parking, please sign up at www.stlouiscenter.org. LGBTQ+ Vaccine Clinic.  3 PM to 6 PM.  The Jackson Pride Center is partnering with the Jackson County Health Department to bring the second of two LGBTQ-focused pop-up vaccine clinics.  Each clinic will have both the Monkeypox and Covid-19 vaccines readily available.  If you’re hesitant about the vaccines still stop by and learn more about the vaccines from healthcare professionals from the Health department. While the focus is to provide a safe clinic space for LGBTQ+ individuals all are welcome!  Pop-up Clinic #2 is today, October 26th from 3PM-6PM at the United Way Office of Jackson, 536 N. Jackson Street, Jackson.

Men Who Cook 2022.  Join us for our 12th annual Men Who Cook! Local chefs prepare a variety of dishes for attendees to taste and vote for best dish and best booth decorations. This year’s event will take place at the Commonwealth Commerce Center Grand Ballrooom. Guests will be able to enjoy the halloween decorations, scary good food, auction items, and music. A benefit for AWARE.  Tickets and information here.

Witch Walk 2022.  Downtown Jackson Businesses and Experience Jackson present the Witch Walk 2022, from 5-8 pm. Visit participating businesses during that time for your chance to win a downtown Jackson prize basket!  Prepare your costume. Witch wear preferred, but not required. Visit downtown Jackson businesses for specials, tasting and fun throughout the evening. But that’s not all!  Multiple downtown locations will be hosting a “witch” at their location. You can prepare ahead by downloading the Experience Jackson App. Check in on the Experience Jackson app at no less than 10 of the participating businesses between 5-8 pm by finding the “witch” name at each location in the “challenges” section.  See the step-by-step of how to participate here.  Prize baskets for each prize will consist of prize items donated from each participating downtown business.  Come to the after party to celebrate and see who wins! Thanks to Grand River Brewery for sponsoring the after party, which will take place at 8 pm (117 W. Louis Glick Hwy, Jackson, MI 49201). Voting for Best Costume will take place at the after party, along with the drawing for the app challenge winner.

Zoerman’s Zombies Haunted 3D Experience.  A haunted 3D experience brought to you by the creators of Zombiewoods and Art 634! This Halloween, the spirits of prisoners past have taken over the artists of Art 634 to create an army of zombies, and finally overcome the torturous Zoerman.  Will you escape Zoerman’s Closet in this haunted 3D experience? Only if you can convince the demon baby.  Running every Thursday – Sunday, 6pm – 12am through November 6th.  6-8p: Kid-friendly and for the faint of heart. Still creepily 3D, just no actors to scare you. $5/child, $10/adult  8p-12a: Let the scaring begin! $20/person.  634 North Mechanic Street, Jackson.

Jackson College Spooktacular.  5 PM to 7 PM.  The Halloween Spooktacular returns to Jackson College Central Campus! Children 12 and under are invited to the seventh annual free Halloween trick or treat event on Friday, Oct. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m.  Guests are encouraged to dress in a Halloween costume (though not required) and trick or treat through campus buildings. Trick-or-treating will start in Bert Walker Hall.    Handicapped accessible parking is available on the south or north side of Potter Center (near the College bookstore). Strollers and wagons are permitted; the route is completely handicap accessible with all locations being on the first floor of each building. The route will take you in and out of buildings so dress for the weather. Children are encouraged to bring a bag for treats.  Volunteers will be stationed throughout the campus to direct visitors and distribute treats. In addition to candy there will be non-sweet treats and age-appropriate items. Free popcorn will be available at the end of the route, while supplies last.  This is a free event for the community. Jackson Symphony Orchestra Children’s Halloween Concert.  3 PM.  Costumes, candy, and more! Your little ghost or goblin will help haunt the Michigan Theatre for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra’s Halloween Children’s Concert. This exciting program features frightfully fun symphonic music perfect for young eyes and ears. The entire family is invited to dress up in their favorite costume along with our musicians to enjoy “boo-tiful” music! This concert is a wonderful chance for you to introduce your children to the wonders of live orchestral music.
