Get your party on in Downtown Jackson at the Race Week Block Party! Come out to see the Jacktown Hustlers performing on the CP Federal Stage downtown, a car show will be taking place during the party, there will be restaurant specials, and the Sunshine Fire Entertainment will be putting on a show. A bus will bring fans from MIS to the party, and then back to the campground – but space on the bus is limited so if you are a race fan looking to join in on the fun reserve a spot on the bus or you can drive yourself downtown for the party!  The Race Week Block Party runs from 5 pm to 8 pm at Horace Blackman Park, Downtown Jackson.  Free entertainment and activities, downtown restaurants will be featuring menu specials. The Race Week Block Party is presented by Experience Jackson.

The Jackson County Fair presents Veterans Day and Pay One Price Day.  Free admission for all Veterans, sponsored by AT&T.   The Vietnam Traveling Wall exhibit arrives at 11 am.  4-H Judging of Ponies & Saddle Horses and Open Beef at 9 am.  4-H Rabbit Showmanship and Tractor Handling at 9 am.  Pie Baking Contest and auction at 1pm.  4-H Large Animal Auction at 4 pm.  K105.3 “The Voice Competition” at the Herman Gumper Stage at 6 pm.  The Vietnam Traveling Wall exhibit arrives at 11 am.

The Green Market at Henry Ford Allegiance Health is open today from 9 AM to 2 PM.  Local, sustainable and organic produce and Michigan-made items are featured.  Located across from the main hospital building on East Michigan Avenue.

Ella’s Patio Party tonight at Ella Sharp Museum.  You’re invited to enjoy snacks, refreshments and entertainment on the patio of Ella Sharp Museum.  Hours are 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  Entertainment tonight by Bob Schultz.  Cash bar.  Admission free for museum members, non-members: $5.  Sponsored by Rehmann.  Take a stroll through our Exhibit Galleries and our sculpture-filled grounds while you’re here!

The Eastern Branch of the Jackson District Library presents Pixar Movies Thursdays in July at 2pm.  Today’s movie is “Up” (2009, PG), starring the voices of Ed Asner & Christopher Plummer.   Free admission and free popcorn.  All ages welcome.  Widescreen and comfortable seats too!

Twilight Thursday with Billy Brandt Duo at Cherry Creek Winery, 11500 U.S. 12 in Cement City.  Music begins at 6:30pm on the patio.  A cafe menu is available, along with selections of wine and beer. 

The Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea presents “Harvey” by Mary Chase.  A Pulitzer Prize-winning American classic concludes the Purple Rose Theatre’s 26th season. Elwood P. Dowd insists on taking his friend Harvey to all of his sister Veta’s social gatherings. Trouble is, Harvey is an imaginary six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit. To avoid future embarrassment for her family, especially for her daughter Myrtle Mae, Veta decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium. When they arrive at the sanitarium, a comedy of errors ensues.  Showtimes today at 3 pm and 8 pm.  Tickets at Purple Rose Theatre, 734-433-7673.

Sandhill Crane Vineyards presents Thirsty Thursdays.  Live music, yummy food from the café, and great wine… every Thursday night!  Tonight’s musician is Robyn Marriott.  Cost: $5 cover charge.  Wine is also available for purchase by the glass or bottle.  Food: A limited café menu is available along with several entrée and dessert specials for the evening.  Time: 6:00 to 9:00 pm, live music from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Zumba Under the Stars tonight at The Cascades.  A Jackson County Parks and Public Health Initiative event, sponsored by Jackson County Parks, Jackson County Health Department and the Jackson YMCA.  Join the party, starting at 9pm inside The Cascades.  General admission is $8 for individuals, $15 for families.  YMCA member:  $4 individuals, $10 families.  This fun fitness event  runs every Thursday through August 31.
