National “Coffee with a Cop” Day.  Join your neighbors and police officers for coffee and conversation on National Coffee with a Cop Day.  The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve by removing agendas allowing opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers in your neighborhood.  The event is presented by the Jackson Police Department, Jackson County Office of the Sheriff, Blackman-Leoni Public Safety and the Michigan State Police.  8 AM to 10 AM at Jackson Coffee Company, 201 South Mechanic Street, Downtown Jackson. 

Social Sound and the Michigan Theatre of Jackson present POST CHILD with special guest Jackson’s own BRIAN TUCKER. POST CHILD, an alternative band from Chicago, is playing in Jackson at the start of a two-week tour that will take them to the East Coast and then back to Chicago. Tickets are $5 and are available now at the Michigan Theatre box office and will also be sold at the door. Half of the proceeds will go directly to the Jackson Interfaith Shelter. All ages are welcome.

Le Monde en François. Calling all high school and college aged French speakers! Join us every Wednesday from 4:30 PM to 6 PM. for the Jackson District Library new French Club. This is your opportunity to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French. Every week alternates between group meetings and study sessions. This is a French speaking group, not French language lessons. Intended for ages 16-23.  Carnegie Branch, Downtown Jackson.

Jackson Public Schools Community Engagement Session.  Over the past year, the district began a process to document building deficiencies, determine enrollment projections, and identify building needs. The community engagement sessions will continue this analysis and bring focus and detail to the needs of the students, staff and community.  These meetings will allow you to participate in identifying and creating a vision for our district’s facilities and programs for the future. The entire community is encouraged to participate in this session. Books and Brew Club at the 127 Brewery, 6 PM to 7:30 PM.   Tonight’s club will discuss Detroit: An American Autopsy by Charlie LeDuff. Intended for adults ages 21 and over.  This event is located at 127 Brewing Co., 3090 Shirley Drive, Jackson.
