Chelsea 9, Jackson 7: Chelsea scored five times in its last two at bats. Jackson scored seven times in the seventh inning, but could not complete the comeback. Patrick Deer finished with three hits for Jackson.
Chelsea 2, Jackson 0: Nathan Hobbs pitched six innings and struck out six batters for Jackson. Jacob Nichols had a pair of hits for the Vikings (6-2).
Homer 8, Springport 5: Kaden Dickinson had two hits and knocked in two runs for Springport.
Homer 6, Springport 5: Springport was led by Travis Riehle had a pair of hits in the Big Eight Conference game.
Softball
East Jackson 9, East Lansing 8: Addison hit a home run and finished with three hits and four RBIs in the game for EJHS. Aubree Bell had a pair of hits and three RBIs for the Trojans.
East Jackson 15, East Lansing 5: Mariah Kerley had three hits – including a home run – for the Trojans. Aubree Bell and Savana Stewart both had three hits in the contest for EJHS (5-3).
Napoleon 19, Vandercook Lake 0: The Pirates scored 11 times in the fourth inning to pull out the win. Napoleon recorded 19 hits Kaylee Smith finished with four hits for the Pirates. Raye Burke – who earned both wins on the mound for Napoleon – pitched a four-inning no hitter striking out seven batters.
Napoleon 17, Vandercook Lake 1: Alyssa Budd recorded three hits and knocked in four runs and Samantha Conaway had three hits and three RBIs.
Springport 6, Homer 2: Kelsey Speer won the game for the Spartans, striking out seven batters. Chloe Neelis had two hits for Springport (5-5).
Springport 12, Homer 11: Madeline Maher finished with three hits for the Spartans.
Boys track and field
Columbia Central at Clinton tri-meet: Dundee defeated Columbia Central (87.5 – 48.5) and Clinton defeated the Golden Eagles 69-59. Jacob Walker won the 800-meter run (2:05), the 1,600-meter run (4:37), and the 3,200-meter run (10:09) for CCHS.
Concord 62.5, Union City 55.5: Malichi Boyd won the 200-meter dash (23.68) and the 400-meter dash (56.78) for Concord. The Yellow Jackets won all of the relays and Mekhi Wingfield won the high jump (5-4) and the long jump (19-7.25).
Springport at Reading tri-meet: The Spartans finished third to Jonesville and Reading (75-56-4). David Becker finished second in the 100-meter dash (12.44) for the Spartans.
Napoleon tri-meet: Napoleon defeated Grass Lake (78-59) and East Jackson (120-17) at a home tri-meet on Wednesday. Grass Lake defeated East Jackson 88-32. Holden Van Poppel of Napoleon won the 110-meter hurdles (15.7), was edged by Jack Easterday in the 300-meter hurdles (41.8 – 41.9) and took first place in the long jump (19-1). Andrew Stockton won the 100-meter dash (12.0) and the 200-meter dash (23.8) for Grass Lake and teammate Matt Rankin won the 800-meter run (2:11) and the 1,600-meter run (4:56).
Girls track and field
Columbia Central at Clinton tri-meet: The Golden Eagles were defeated by Dundee (77-50) and Clinton (78-44) with 16 of 17 events reported. Hope Wilkes won the 1,600-meter run (6:19) and the 3,200-meter run (13:42) for CCHS.
Concord 82, Union City 36: Rylee Weeks won the 800-meter run (2:51) and the 1,600-meter run (6:20) for Concord. Lily McCabe (25-0) won the shot put and Karlee Gamet won the discus (89-1.5) for Concord.
Springport at Reading tri-meet: Jonesville won the meet, Reading was second and Springport was third (55-51-11). Kaylee Kopulus won the shot put (27-10) and the discus (85-6.75) for Springport.
Napoleon tri-meet: Grass Lake defeated Napoleon (73-63) and East Jackson (85-40) at NHS on Wednesday. Napoleon defeated East Jackson 100-36. Ava Viegelahn won the 800-meter run (2:42) and the 1,600-meter run (6:01) for Grass Lake. Brynn Mericle of East Jackson won both hurdle events winning the 100-meter hurdles (17.4) and the 300-meter hurdles (51.3). Kaitlyn Pilch of East Jackson won the 200-meter dash (28.9) and the 400-meter dash (1:06).
Girls soccer
Clinton 5, Columbia Central 0: The Golden Eagles fell to 3-2 with the road loss.
Grass Lake 8, Arbor Prep 0: Ella Kraus scored four goals and Kylin Heidrich added two goals for the Warriors. Ella Easterday and Cassidy Ortbring also scored goals for Grass Lake. Karly Penhallegon earned the shutout in goal for Grass Lake (2-3).
Jackson 6, Ypsilanti 0: The Vikings improved to 3-0 with a home win against Ypsilanti. Abby Hunt scored a pair of goals and single goals were scored by Enizha Hurd, Liv Perrine, Ellie Weed, and Trystin Cline. Delaney Jones earned the shutout in goal for Jackson.
Marshall 4, Northwest 1: The Mounties are 1-4 on the season following the road loss.
Western 3, Lumen Christi 0: The Panthers improved to 2-3 on the season, having shut out its last two opponents. The Titans are 0-2-1 with the loss.
Boys golf
Jackson County Junior Varsity Invitational: Lumen Christi won the event with a four-man total of 370, Northwest shot 406, Western scored 426, and Jackson finished with 445 at Hankerd Hills Golf Course. The Titans were led by Charlie Saunders with 82, Nolan Novak shot 98 for Northwest, Western was led by Alex Phebus scoring a 92, and Jacob England shot 101 to lead Jackson.
Girls tennis
Columbia Central 7, Tecumseh 1: The Golden Eagles earned the non-conference win in a light rain at CCHS. Columbia Central swept the singles’ competitions with wins by Sydnee Miller, Alana Knoebel, Emma Keane, and Iliana Fowle at Nos. 1-4 respectively. Morgan Fausz/Lily Ellison won at No. 2 doubles; Kaley Thivierge/Morgan Wilber won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles; and Tamara Little/Emma Mossolle won for CCHS (2-1) at No. 4 doubles.
Western 7, Eaton Rapids 1: Maddie Miles, highlighted the Panthers’ win by losing only two points out of the 50 points played.
