Baseball

Maple Valley 13, Springport 3: Drew Sanford finished with one hit and an RBI for the Spartans (0-9-1). 

Maple Valley 10, Springport 0: Springport could only muster three hits in the non-conference game. 

Napoleon 10, East Jackson 6: The Pirates scored five runs in the last three innings to pull out the win. Grant Bradley hit a home run and knocked in three runs for Napoleon. Brandon Crites finished with three hits for the Pirates. Bryce Fowler finished with two hits in the game for East Jackson. 

Napoleon at East Jackson: Game two was suspended due to darkness.  

Grass Lake 8, Hanover-Horton 2: The Comets scored two runs in the first inning, but that is all they could produce in the Cascades Conference matchup. Braydon Sayles had a pair of hits for Hanover-Horton. Luke Guthrie finished with three hits to pace Grass Lake. 

Grass Lake 3, Hanover-Horton 0: Brayden Lape limited the Comets to two hits on the mound and recorded two hits and two RBIs at the plate for Grass Lake. 

Michigan Center 16, Vandercook Lake 1: Carter McCave threw a no-hitter and struck out 11 batters in a game at Vandercook Lake. 

Michigan Center 18, Vandercook Lake 0: Bodee Adkins knocked in five runs with two hits and Hadyn Hinkle finished with a pair of hits and three RBIs in the contest for the Cardinals. Dylan Whitmill threw a three-inning no-hitter against the Jayhawks dealing six strikeouts in the process. 

Western 6, Mason 5: Luke Nally earned the pitching win for the Panthers with six innings pitched. Caden Oliver closed out the game for Western and had a pair of hits at the plate. 

Western 7, Mason 4: Ethan Wagner finished with a pair of hits to lead Western to the non-conference win. 

Softball

Napoleon 11, East Jackson 0: Karson Fairbanks hit a home run and knocked in three runs for the Pirates in the Cascades Conference road win. Raye Burke struck out 11 batters in the win. The Trojans could only muster two hits in the loss. 

Napoleon 13, East Jackson 0: Raye Burke threw a no-hitter and struck out 13 batters on Friday at East Jackson. Hayden Rendall finished with three hits and two RBIs and Karson Fairbanks tallied three hits for the Pirates. 

Grass Lake 18, Hanover-Horton 4: The Warriors took control in the Cascades Conference with a pair of wins over previously unbeaten Hanover-Horton. Emily Guthrie, Katelyn Postuma, and Olivia Turner hit home runs in the contest. Rylee Fitzpatrick and Bree Salts recorded four hits apiece for GLHS. Alexyn Dubois hit a home run and knocked in three runs for the Comets. 

Grass Lake 11, Hanover-Horton 1: The Warriors used the long ball to pull out the win Katelyn Postuma, Emily Brown, Olivia Turner, and Emily Guthrie all hit home runs in the contest for Grass Lake. Laney Brown of Grass Lake limited the Comets to three hits in the contest. 

Western 6, Mason 0: Hailey Whisman earned the shutout on the mound with 11 strikeouts and recorded a pair of hits at the plate for Western. 

Western 10, Mason 1: Abby Nieswender finished with a pair of doubles and Tessa White and Alivia Hall each finished with two hits for Western (8-4 overall). 

Girls track and field

Ralph Rice Invitational: Western High School finished second and Hanover-Horton third at WHS on Friday night. Olivet won the event (209), Western was second (105.33), Hanover-Horton placed third (90.33), Grass Lake finished fourth (76.83),  Northwest finished seventh (35), and Michigan Center was ninth (9). Jackson County winners included Grace Bullock of Grass Lake in the 100-meter dash (13.25) and the 200-meter dash (27.28); Sophia Reynolds of Hanover-Horton won the 800-meter run (2:29); teammate Olivia Perrine won the 1,600-meter run (5:38); Chloe Khon of Northwest took first place in the 3,200-meter run (12:33); Grass Lake won the 400-meter relay (52.98) and Hanover-Horton claimed the 3,200-meter relay (10:38); Kayda Herrick of Western won the high jump (5-1); and Bayli Stewart of Western won the long jump (15-7.5). 

Lumen Christi Pewamo-Westphalia Invitational: Lumen Christi finished fifth at the Friday invitational with 152 points. Madison Osterberg of Lumen Christi won the 800-meter run (2:15) and the 1,600-meter run (4:56). Teammate Macy Fazekas won the 3,200-meter run (12:35). 

Boys track and field

Ralph Rice Invitational: Western High School won the event with 155 points, Hanover-Horton was fifth (70.5), Grass Lake finished seventh (39), Northwest placed eighth (32.5), and Michigan Center was ninth (29). Local winners included Graham Gumper of Hanover-Horton won the 100-meter dash (11.59); Andrew Stockton of Grass Lake took first place in the 200-meter dash (23.62); Travis Collins of Michigan Center won the 400-meter dash (51.66); Rogan Melling of Hanover-Horton won the 1,600-meter run (4:26) and the 3,200-meter run (9:48); Lucas Inosencio of Western won the 110-meter hurdles (16.35) and the pole vault (12-6); Western took the title in the 400-meter relay (45.0); Ronald London of Western took first place in the shot put (48-10.5); and Joshua Veneziano of Western won the high jump (6-1). 

Lumen Christi Pewamo-Westphalia Invitational: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished seventh at the Friday Invitational. Xavier Gallant finished third in the 110-meter hurdles (17.52) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (46.31) for the Titans.

Boys golf

Grass Lake Invitational: Tecumseh won the invitational at Hills Heart of the Lakes Golf Course in Brooklyn scoring 318 on a cold and rainy day. Hanover-Horton was second (325), Jackson finished third (335), Columbia Central was seventh (357), Grass Lake placed eighth (367), Napoleon was ninth (371), Michigan Center finished 11th (380), Concord was 13th (409), and East Jackson finished 15th (437). Brady Applegate of Hanover-Horton earned medalist honors with a 75 and teammate Ryder Pickering finished with an 80. Jacob England of Jackson was fifth overall with teammate Eli Bowman (81); Hoyt Wrona of Hanover-Horton placed eighth (83); and Daniel Pero of Columbia Central finished 10th (84). 

Western, Northwest, Lumen Christi at Marshall Invitational: Northwest High School won the 18-hole event at Marshall with a four-man total of 312. Lumen Christi finished second (316) and Western was sixth (330). Jake Brafford of Northwest earned medalist honors scoring a 73, Hayden Kim of Western finished third (75); Josh Baker and Charlie Saunders of Lumen Christi tied for fifth (78), and Ryan Stevens of Northwest tied for seventh (79).
