Baseball

Concord 8, Springport 6: Concord scored three times in the seventh inning to pull out the win. Tyler Carpenter and Lewis Fritz recorded two hits apiece for the Yellow Jackets. Matt Riehle and Kaden Dickinson each had two hits for the Spartans in the loss. 

Springport 4, Concord 2: Kaden Dickinson had two hits and knocked in two runs for the Spartans. Dylan Sanford earned the pitching win, striking out eight batters in seven innings pitched. Logan Lamb had two hits for Concord in the loss. 

Northwest 9, Harper Creek 1: Gage Race had three hits – including a pair of doubles – for Northwest in the win. Race also earned the pitching win with six strikeouts. The two teams were tied at 3-all in game two after five innings. 

Pennfield 3, Western 2: Nolan Wheeler and Alex Trudell had two hits apiece for the Panthers. 

Pennfield 5, Western 2: Alex Trudell had two of the Panthers’ five hits against Pennfield. 

Softball

Springport 18, Concord 2: Brenna Crittenden and Rebekkah Betz each had three hits and knocked in four runs apiece in the Big Eight Conference game. Concord was limited to two hits by Kelsey Speer of Springport. 

Springport 14, Concord 9: Kelsey Speed hit a home run and knocked in four runs for the Spartans. Brenna Crittenden and Rylee Siefert had three hits apiece for Springport. Concord was led by Zoe Schultz with a double and two RBIs.  

Lumen Christi 13, Hastings 7: Maria King and Zoe Toler each recorded three hits and Riley Okoniewski finished with five RBI. 

Lumen Christi 16, Hastings 1: The Titans scored nine runs in the first inning. Ava Cumberworth earned the pitching win for the Titans. Caroline Hilderley had three hits and four RBIs for Lumen Christi (5-7). 

Northwest 13, Harper Creek 1: Ava Golightly recorded four hits and Maddy Rowley and Isabell Rogers each had three hits – including home runs – for Northwest. Rogers earned the win on the mound, giving up only three hits in five innings pitched. 

Northwest 17, Harper Creek 0: Nevaeh Ingram pitched a no-hitter striking out 14-of-15 batters faced in the five-inning game. Katelyn Peach Kennedy went 3-for-4 at the plate and knocked in four runs for the Mounties (12-0). 

Ypsilanti 19, Jackson 11: Amariae Hicks had two hits and two RBIs for Jackson (0-6).

Western 5, Pennfield 1: Abby Nieswender had three hits and knocked in four of the Panthers’ five runs in the contest. 

Western 6, Pennfield 0: Hailey Whisman threw a two-hitter for Western and earned wins in both games. Ashley Sturgill, Abby Nieswender, and Abby Stoetzel each had two hits and an RBI for Western (8-2). 

Boys track and field

Addison, Napoleon at Michigan Center: Kyler Pequet of Napoleon took first place in the 800-meter run (2:13), the 1,600-meter run (5:13), and the 3,200-meter run (11:19). Teammate Logan Van Poppel won four events taking first in the 200-meter dash (23.51), the 110-meter hurdles (16.34), the 300-meter hurdles (42.83), and the long jump (19-2.5). For Michigan Center, Logan Heath won the shot put (36-4), Michael VanRiper took first in the 400-meter dash (53.9), and Lucan Maier won the 100-meter dash (12.28).  Napoleon defeated Michigan Center 80-61 and Addison 112-25. The Cardinals defeated Addison 85-47

Grass Lake 66, Hanover-Horton 61: Rogan Melling of Hanover-Horton won the 800-meter run (2:10), the 1,600-meter run (5:05), and the 3,200-meter run (11:18). Jack Easterday won the 110-meter hurdles (16.9), the 300-meter hurdles (44.5) and the high jump (6-2) for Grass Lake. 

Girls track and field

Addison, Napoleon at Michigan Center: Alyssa Budd of Napoleon won the 100-meter dash (13.79) and the long jump (16-8). Napoleon won three of the four relays. Ella Trefry won the pole vault (7-6) and Tarrin Leffler won the shot put (30-6.5) for Michigan Center. Napoleon defeated Michigan Center, 96-32, and Addison 84-44. The Panthers defeated MCHS 77-41. 

Grass Lake 91, Hanover-Horton 28: Ava Viegelahn of Grass Lake won the 800-meter run (2:46), the 1,600-meter run (6:15) and Gabi Lutchka won the shot put (28-9.5) and the high jump (4-8). Olivianna Watkins of Hanover-Horton won the 100-meter hurdles (18.5) and the 300-meter hurdles (53.5). 

Girls soccer

Pinckney 3, Jackson 0: The Vikings are now 3-2 following the home loss to Pinckney. 

Eaton Rapids 2, Northwest 0: The Mounties are 1-6 on the season. 

Boys golf

Cascades jamboree at Lake LeAnn: Hanover-Horton won its second consecutive Cascades Conference jamboree with a four-man total of 169 at Lake LeAnn Golf Course. Napoleon was second (183), Michigan Center placed third (187), Grass Lake finished fourth (193), East Jackson was fifth (194), and Addison finished sixth (221). Ben Maino of East Jackson earned medalist honors with a 38, John Wallbaum of Hanover-Horton was second with a 39, Brody Shannon of Michigan Center finished third 40, and Brady Applegate of Hanover-Horton and Ben Baker of Napoleon finished fourth (41). 

I-8 at Marshall: Lumen Christi finished second (168), Northwest was fifth (175), and Western placed seventh (182). Nash Hanchett, Joshua Baker, and Charlie Saunders all shot 41s to lead the Titans. Northwest was led by Isaac Anuszkiewicz with a 42 and Kamryn Banks with 43, and Western was led by Eli Herrington with a 43 and Alex Phebus shooting a 44.
