Hanover-Horton 12, Columbia Central 5: Travis Drennan drove in four runs to pace the Comets in the win. Drennan finished with two hits and four RBIs in the contest. Ryan Hammond knocked in a pair of runs for CCHS.
Hanover-Horton 5, Columbia Central 3: Both teams could only muster six hits apiece in the second game of the double header. Luke Soper had a hit and RBI for Hanover-Horton. Nick Wilding finished with a pair of hits for the Golden Eagles.
East Jackson 19, Springport 0: Logan Stump, Jake Saunders, and Bryce Fowler all knocked in three runs for the Trojans in the 12-hit attack. Saunders earned the pitching win striking out five batters in two innings pitched. The two teams tied at 6-all in game two as Springport scored a pair of runs in the final inning. Gibson Overweg knocked in one run for the Spartans in the seventh inning. Devon Neeley and Stump each recorded three hits for the Trojans.
Grass Lake 2, Quincy 1: Brayden Lape earned the pitching win striking out nine batters in five innings. Jack Reid, Luke Guthrie, Max Schafran, Jacob Collins, and Lape all had hits for the Warriors.
Quincy 8, Grass Lake 7: Grass Lake rallied for seven runs late in the game, but could not complete the comeback.
Western 13, Napoleon 0: Troy Gilpin earned the shutout for Western, striking out six batters in the process.
Western 12, Napoleon 2: Drew Braun finished with three hits to pace the Panthers. Nick Allen captured the win for Western with four innings pitched.
Chelsea 4, Northwest 3: Alex Thrun and Easton Nietzke each had a pair of hits for the Mounties. Gage Race pitched a solid game for NWHS giving up zero earned runs.
Northwest 3, Chelsea 0: Will Herman pitched five strong innings to earn the win for NWHS. Easton Nietzke had a pair of hits for Northwest (1-1).
Softball
Hanover-Horton 11, Columbia Central 1: Halle Swihart and Alexyn Dubois had three hits and knocked in three runs apiece for the Comets in the win. Dubois earned the pitching win striking out eight batters in six innings on the mound. CCHS was able to tally two hits in the contest.
Hanover-Horton 11, Columbia Central 6: Halle Swihart continued her hot hitting with four hits in the second game for Hanover-Horton. Alexis Flint struck out seven batters in four innings pitched and Lexie Schuette knocked in three runs for the Comets. Ava Lyke finished with three hits and Taylor Bayes produced two hits for Columbia Central.
Springport 11, East Jackson 1: Chloe Speer, Saige Patterson, Rebekkah Betz, and Kelsey Speer each drove in one run in a six-run fifth inning for the Spartans. Speer earned the pitching win striking out 10 batters for Springport.
Springport 12, East Jackson 1: Brenna Crittenden drove in four runs and Madeline Maher finished with three RBIs in the win. Kaylee Kopulos earned the pitching win for Springport. Savanna Curey struck out seven batters on the mound for EJHS.
Lumen Christi 21, Jackson 1: The Titans exploded for 14 hits in the first game of the season. Kadence Hinkley, Lily Ganton, and Mallory Arcaro all finished with two hits and three RBIs in the contest. Bella Wrozek earned the win for the Titans with nine strikeouts. Azaria Johnson knocked in the only run for Jackson with a single in the first inning.
Lumen Christi 11, Jackson 0: Lumen Christi scored 10 times in the fifth inning to put the game away. Kadence Hinkley, Lily Ganton, and Bree Okoniewski all finished with two hits for Lumen Christi. Okoniewski earned the pitching win with eight strikeouts for the Titans.
Western 5, Napoleon 0: Abby Nieswender recorded a pair of hits for Western. The Panthers scored all five of their runs in the sixth inning. Hailey Whisman struck out 13 batters for WHS in the contest. Raye Burke struck out eight batters for the Pirates.
Western 8, Napoleon 7: Western High School scored six times in the sixth inning to pull out the win. Shaunicy Hendricks hit her first high school home run in the contest for Western. The Panthers were paced by hitters Palmer Fortress, Abby Nieswender, Ashlyn Yeo, and Nicole Shellberg. Karson Fairbanks, Camryn Smilowski, Raye Burke, and Maggie Beer all had multiple hits for Napoleon.
Boys track and field
Napoleon 74, Columbia Central 63: The Pirates won 10 of the events, but failed to produce a multiple winner in any of those events. Teammates Gavrik Belcourt and Holden Van Poppel for Napoleon both won hurdle events as Van Poppel won the high hurdles (15.3) and Belcourt won the low hurdles (45.7). CCHS freshman Wyatt Vowell won the 800-meter run (2:14) and was second in the 1,600-meter run (5:10).
Clinton Invitational: East Jackson was sixth and Jackson Prep finished eighth at the invitational. William Kennedy won the 800-meter run for East Jackson (2:22) and Michael Allen was second in the 1,600-meter run (5:05) and second in the 3,200-meter run (10:49). Randy Reddick was also second in the long jump (19-0.5) for the Trojans.
Girls track and field
Napoleon 93, Columbia Central 43: Alyssa Budd of Napoleon won the 100-meter dash (12.8), the pole vault (7-6), and the long jump (17-9.5) during the home meet. CCHS was paced by Melyssa McJennett who won the high hurdles (18.2) and the low hurdles (54.9) and Hope Wilkes who won the 1,600-meter run (6:12) and the 3,200-meter run (13:57).
Clinton Invitational: East Jackson finished sixth and Jackson Prep was eighth at the Redwolf Invitational at Clinton. Mariah Kerley won the discus (97-7), and Addisyn Rudd took first in the pole vault (8-0) for East Jackson.
Girls soccer
Grass Lake 2, Columbia Central 1: Columbia Central’s lone goal was scored by senior Jaden Bates and assisted by sophomore Allie Choate in the final minute of the game.
Laingsburg 9, Hanover-Horton 1: Brooke Andrulis scored the only goal for the Comets.
Jackson 7, Northwest 2: Sydney Langley and Rylie Dubois scored all seven goals for the Vikings as Langley tallied four and Dubois three. The two Northwest goals were scored by Avery Redman and Kelsey Corser.
Lumen Christi 5, Springport 1: Khiya Hunt led the offensive attack for the Titans with two goals, and Brooke Lefere, Paige Lefere, and Cody Ruge each added one goal. Ruby Boyce stepped in as goalkeeper for Lumen Christi.

Girls tennis
Columbia Central 7, Adrian 1: The Golden Eagles swept the singles’ competition as Morgan Fausz, Iliana Fowle, and Lily Ellison won at Nos. 1-3 respectively. The Maples forfeited the match at No. 4 singles.
