Concord 66, Bronson 63 (2OT): Mekhi Wingfield hit a 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds remaining to give the Yellow Jackets the win. Wingfield scored a career-high 37 points to lead Concord (4-2 overall, 3-0 Big Eight Conference).
Girls Basketball

Columbia Central 62, Home 40: Hailey Freshcorn led Columbia Central with 15 points and five assists. Cecelia Slat tallied 11 points and Kolie Brown finished with eight points and eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Hanover-Horton 69, Vandercook Lake 8: Molly Soper scored 23 points and had four steals for the Comets in the Cascades Conference road win. Morgan Kuhl finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and four steals, Tracy Ackley scored eight points and earned four steals, and Katie Stroede dished seven assists for Hanover-Horton. Vandercook Lake was led by Katie Donaldson with six points.

Michigan Center 58, Manchester 14: The Cardinals are 5-0 to start the season following the win. Freshman McKynley Gaddy scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Hailey Mees finished with 14 points, and Sophia Allen added six assists for the Cardinals.

Wrestling
Jackson at Ypsilanti Lincoln Quad: The Viking defeated Pinckney 52-24 and Ypsilanti Lincoln 72-6 in Southeastern Conference wrestling Thursday. Eden Nguyen (113), Sean Benin (132), Zander Resor (138), and Malik Sharlow (190) all earned a pair of pins for Jackson.
Boys Bowling
East Jackson 30, Addison 0: The Trojans earned an easy win against the undermanned Panthers on the road Thursday. Gauge Parshall rolled a 402 series and Doug Lysher finished with 341 for the Trojans.
Lumen Christi 16, Western 15: The Titans won the match 140-129 in a rolloff at JAX 60 Thursday. Austin Ball finished with a 400 series and Buster Marr added a 222 game for Western.
Girls Bowling
East Jackson 30, Addison 0: Tessa Wyngaert finished with a 284 series and Jordan Wineland rolled a 124 game for the Lady Trojans.
Western 26, Lumen Christi 4: Madason McDonald rolled a 187 game and Kiley Bieske added a 145 game for Western.

Women’s Basketball

Spring Arbor 86, Lourdes 74: Springport High School graduate Alana Nelson (above) poured in 47 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the home win. Michigan Center graduate Alize Tripp added 20 points for Spring Arbor (9-2). The Spring Arbor Athletic Website is calling the 47 points scored by Nelson a school record.
Awards

Jack Reid of Grass Lake High School was named as an all-state linebacker in Division 7 by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association. The four-year varsity player averaged 11.5 tackles per game for the Warriors this season. He was a two-way player for Grass Lake playing tight end on offense. He caught 24 passes, with two touchdown catches, and 277 yards of total offense for 2023.
