Columbia Central 71, Homer 44: Columbia Central improved to 4-0 on the season with the road win in the Cascades Conference. Conner Cole exploded for 35 points and Derek Sanders tallied 20 points for CCHS. Caidan Kissinger scored 14 points to lead Homer.
East Jackson 56, Leslie 46: The Trojans outscored Leslie 31-15 in the second half to pull out the win. Caleb Weaver scored 19 points for East Jackson and Leslie was led by Jayden Colby with 14 points.
Hanover-Horton 78, Vandercook Lake 49: The Comets jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the first quarter enroute to the Cascades Conference road win. Four players scored in double digits for the Comets as Luke Soper scored 29 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, Logan Blackledge and Kaiden Henry both tallied 12 points, and Jerry Linabury added 10 points for Hanover-Horton (4-2).
Napoleon 46, Grass Lake 24: Napoleon High School improved to 4-1 overall, 3-0 in the Cascades Conference with the win. DeVonta Habern scored 15 points and dished four assists and Holden Van Poppel added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Pirates.
Waldron 51, Jackson Christian 36: Isaac Lanham finished with15 points and Aaden Breton added 10 points for Jackson Christian.

Lumen Christi 61, Stockbridge 48: Lundon Hampton scored 16 points and Kadale Williams added 11 points for the Titans in the win. Keegan Collins scored 16 points and Joey Ballagh added 11 points for Stockbridge in the non-conference battle.
Michigan Center 65, Manchester 39: Hunter Clemons scored 20 points in the win for Michigan Center. Nine players scored for the Cardinals in the victory. Michigan Center is now on a five-game winning streak after losing its first contest of the year to Onsted.

Girls Basketball
Concord 79, Maple Valley 10: Four players scored in double digits for Concord led by Cece Barrett with 23 points and Bradie Lehman with 20 points. Grace Thorrez and Maria Stevens each scored 11 points for the Yellow Jackets (2-2 overall, 1-0 Big 8). Barrett also tied a school record with 14 steals in the game.
Waldron 35, Jackson Christian 26: Rennie Huff scored 15 points and Shaina McCombs pulled down 13 rebounds for Jackson Christian.
Lumen Christi 46, Lutheran North 16: Nine players scored in the contest for Lumen Christi led by Codi Ruge with 14 points.
Northwest 48, Harper Creek 32

Springport 59, Reading 17: Maddux Locke went over the 1,000-point career scoring mark in the contest for Springport. The senior finished with 22 points, six assists, five steals, and four rebounds. “I’ve always dreamed of this moment … I owe it all to my coaches and team,” Locke said after the win. Chloey Speer finished with 14 points and four steals, Brenna Crittenden grabbed 12 rebounds, and Rylee Siefert added 10 rebounds for the Spartans (2-1 overall, 1-0 Big 8). The Spartans held Reading to single digits in every quarter including a goose egg in the second quarter.

Western 60, Pennfield 33: Western High School held Battle Creek Pennfield in double digits three of the four quarters at home in Interstate-8 Conference play. The Panthers also distributed the points as 10 players scored in the contest led by Rayah Hitt with 12 points. Cami Boldt finished with four points, four assists, and six steals for Western (2-3 overall, 1-1 I8).
Grass Lake 50, Tecumseh 40: Kate Starkey scored 29 points, Grace Bullock added eight points, and Reese Lape scored five points for Grass Lake.

Napoleon 25, Columbia Central 5: Ethan Rose finished with a 224 game and Payton Thorne added a 211 game for the Pirates. Ethan Senkewitz led CCHS with a 350 series and Logan Cripps added a 336 series.
Grass Lake 30, Michigan Center 0: The Warriors earned a Cascades Conference win at Suburban Lanes Friday.
Homer 29, Vandercook Lake 1: Kyle Trajnowski rolled a 353 series to lead the Jayhawks at JAX 60 in Jackson.
Girls Bowling
Columbia Central 28, Napoleon 2: The Golden Eagles were led by Amber Johnson with a 346 series and Kayleigh Molnar with a 190 game. Sydney Gallagher of Napoleon rolled a 197 game.

Homer 30, Vandercook Lake 0: Homer High School earned the win at JAX 60 in Jackson Friday in Cascades Conference action.
Hockey

Saline 7, Jackson United 2: Jackson United was up 2-1 after one period, but Saline scored the next six goals in the contest at Optimist Ice Arena. Trevor Huttenlocker and Jack Whyte scored the goals for JU. Saline outshot Jackson 33-19 in the contest.

Jackson 94, Holt 86: Logan McKinney won four events for the Vikings in the road win.
Awards

Brayden Lape may be known as a finalist on “The Voice” a couple of years ago, but the Grass Lake High School student-athletes is a pretty good quarterback. Lape was chosen as an all-state quarterback in Division 7 by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association in 2023. Lape threw for a school-record 2,492 yards with a completion percentage of .611. He averaged 250 yards per game and threw 22 touchdowns. Only a junior, Lape has thrown for 4,269 yards and 37 touchdowns for the Warriors in two years as a starter.
