Boys basketball

East Jackson 61, Whitmore Lake 51: East Jackson earned its first win of the season, improving to 1-3. 

Homer 74, Vandercook Lake 32: The Jayhawks fell at home in the non-conference contest. 

Concord 48, Sturgis 40: Isaac Waldron hit a 3-point basket to send the game into overtime. The Yellow Jackets outscored Sturgis 8-0 in overtime. Mekhi Wingfield finished with 15 points and Waldron added 13 points for Concord. 

Girls basketball

Columbia Central 55, Michigan Center 30: Zoie Bamm of Columbia Central High School scored a school-record 34 points in the win. Anna McCollum also added 10 points for the Golden Eagles. Michigan Center was led by Sophia Allen with seven points. 

Dexter 57, Grass Lake 39 

Napoleon 41, Hanover-Horton 30: Scoring leaders for Napoleon High School included Camryn Smilowski with 24 points, Alyssa Budd scoring seven points, and Gracie Tallman with five points.

Leslie 53, Jackson 43: The Vikings played three solid quarters, but were outscored 17-8 in the final quarter of play. The loss sets up a Jackson/Lumen Christi early season showdown Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Leslie High School. 

Springport 35, Lumen Christi 15: Maddux Overweg scored 16 points to lead Springport to the win at the Leslie Blackhawk Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament. The Spartans will play Leslie in the tournament final Tuesday at 7 p.m. Lumen Christi was led by Genevieve Brawner who scored five points and Allison O’Dowd and Camy Crandall added four points apiece. 

Boys Bowling

Vandercook Lake 17, Addison 13: Dayton Rodriguez rolled a 392 series for the Jayhawks. Alvis Hedrick finished with a 354 for the Panthers. 

East Jackson 23, Homer 7: Steven Tripp rolled a high game of 275 and Jordan Tripp bowled a 212 for East Jackson.

Manchester 18, Grass Lake 12: Cayden DeWitt rolled a 507 series and Tanner Fournier added a 400 series for Grass Lake. 

Girls Bowling

Vandercook Lake 22, Addison 8: Brianna Langley rolled a 189 game and Allie Curtis finished with a 133 game for the Jayhawks. Jenna Asher finished with a 356 series for Addison.  

Homer 20, East Jackson 10: Katie Deault finished with a 318 series and Bree Baxter rolled a 145 game for East Jackson.
