Boys Basketball

Columbia Central 50, Jonesville 43: Derek Sanders scored 17 points, Conner Cole scored 11 points, and Jack Gorton tallied 10 points to lead CCHS (4-0). 

Napoleon 64, East Jackson 47: Gavrik Belcourt scored 13 points and pulled down six rebounds to lead Napoleon. Holden Van Poppel added 12 points and nine rebounds and Carsen Godfrey finished with 10 points, four steals and three assists for Napoleon (5-1 overall, 4-0 conference). East Jackson is now 2-5 overall, 1-4 in the Cascades Conference. 

Grass Lake 28, Manchester 26: The Warriors improved to 3-3 overall with the win in a defensive struggle Tuesday night. 

Hanover-Horton 65, Addison 56:  Hanover-Horton extended its winning streak to six games with the road win in the Cascades Conference. 

Michigan Center 76, Leslie 52: Spencer Berkeypile scored 22 points to lead Michigan Center to the win. Travis Collins added 13 points, Hadyn Hinkle tallied 12 points, and Tre Collins finished with 10 points for Michigan Center (6-1 overall, 4-0 conference). Jayden Colby scored 16 points to lead Leslie (2-5 overall, 1-4 conference). 

Vandercook Lake 64, Homer 49: Vandercook Lake earned a home conference win Tuesday night over Homer ending a five-game losing streak. Hunter Fletcher scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Jayhawks. 

Chelsea 56, Western 40: The Panthers are now 4-3 overall following the home non-conference loss against Chelsea. Maverick Hammond scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished three assists and Aidan Barrett followed that up with seven points and 12 rebounds for Western.

Girls Basketball

Concord 54, Quincy 38: Hannah Stimer made five 3-point baskets en route to 17 points to lead Concord. Cece Barrett scored 14 points, Bradie Lehman added nine points, and Grace Thorrez tallied eight points for Concord (3-2 overall, 2-0 conference). 

Jackson Christian 38, North Adams-Jerome 22: Ella Boll had a big night with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots for Jackson Christian. Rennie Huff added eight points and six assists for Jackson Christian (2-4 overall). 

Lumen Christi 56, Cabrini 39: The Titans improved to 5-0 with a road win Tuesday. LCCHS received contributions from a number of players including Ruby Boyce who scored 13 points, Paige Lefere added nine points, and Codi Ruge tallied eight points. 

Springport 56, Union City 19: The swarming Spartan defense limited Union City to four points in the first half of the contest. Maddux Lock scored 22 points, dished seven assists, and created six steals and Brenna Crittenden added 17 points, four assists, and four steals for Springport (3-1 overall, 2-0 conference).

Boys Bowling

Columbia Central 22, Hanover-Horton 8: The Golden Eagles won both Baker games for a 10-0 lead. David Bielby rolled a 210 and Ethan Senkewitz added a 202 for CCHS. The Comets were led by Noah DeKamp with games of 168 and 171, Grant Cure rolled a 191 game, and Joe Davis finished with a 189.

Michigan Center 28, Vandercook Lake 2: The Cardinals won a road win in the Cascades Conference with a victory at JAX 60. Xavier Petty of VCL finished with a 361 series.

Northwest 29, Stockbridge 1: Preston Weigman finished with a 389 series for Northwest in the home win at JAX 60. Bryce Thomas rolled a 190 game for NWHS. 

Girls Bowling

Columbia Central 23, Hanover-Horton 7: Alexis Henry rolled a 399 series and Kayleigh Molnar added a 165 game for CCHS (6-0). Arianna Uhl led the Comets with a personal-best game of 164 and Abby Barba with a 272 series.

Michigan Center 24, Vandercook Lake 6: Alyssa Jones finished with a personal-best 140. 

Northwest 30, Stockbridge 0: Lacey Wenman rolled a 343 series and Kaylyn Blair added a 203 game for the Mounties. 

College Athletic Events

Men’s Basketball

Jackson 64, Bryant & Stratton 62: The Jets improved to 7-5 overall with the home win Tuesday against B&S. Jackson College will be off until Saturday, Jan. 6, with a home contest against Mid Michigan College beginning at 3 p.m. 

Bowling

Glenn Carlson Invitational: Spring Arbor University women advanced to the stepladder portion of the tournament in Las Vegas as the No. 7 seed. The Cougars defeated Webber International in the round of eight but lost to Ottawa of Kansas in the semifinals. Spring Arbor finished 17th in the men’s competition barely missing the 16-team stepladder portion of the tournament.
