Columbia Central 55, Leslie 38: Derek Sanders scored 19 points and Conner Cole added 17 points for the Golden Eagles. The win was the first for Dennis Luppo as the CCHS head coach. Jayden Colby scored 20 points to lead Leslie.
Homer 46, East Jackson 43
Hanover-Horton 63, Grass Lake 57: The Comets earned its first win of the season with the victory. Luke Soper scored 22 points, Logan Blackledge added 18 points, and John Wallbaum tallied 11 points to lead the Comets.
Calhoun Christian 47, Jackson Christian 40: Aaden Breton scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds and Phil LaBatte added nine points for Jackson Christian.
Jackson 74, Battle Creek Central 39: The Vikings improved to 3-0 on the season with a lopsided win at home Tuesday. Twelve players scored in the contest for Jackson led by Koronnis Davis with 14 points and Ja-Savion Westbrook with 12 points.
Michigan Center 51, Jonesville 43: Hunter Clemons of Michigan Center was one of three Cardinals in double digits for the contest. Hadyn Hinkle finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jayden Watson added 10 points and two steals for Michigan Center.
Napoleon 59, Vandercook Lake 25: The Pirates earned a Cascades Conference win on the road Tuesday.
Mason 65, Northwest 43: Duncan Moffitt scored 24 points and Hudson Cooper added six points for the Mounties.
Springport 55, Hillsdale 51: The Spartans earned a road win against a non-conference foe Tuesday.
Western 65, Adrian 60: The Panthers earned a non-conference win at home Tuesday.
Girls Basketball
Hanover-Horton 45, Concord 37: Maggie Soper scored 13 points and pulled down five rebounds and Morgan Kuhl added nine points and six rebounds for the Comets. Marie Stevens scored 15 points and Grace Thorrez added 10 points for Concord.
Western 49, Grass Lake 48: The Panthers outscored the Warriors 20-11 in the fourth quarter to pull out the win. Grass Lake started hot scoring 15 points in the first quarter. Rayah Hitt scored a last-minute free throw to put the Panthers ahead.
Northwest 40, Mason 35: Mara Mitchell scored 21 points and recorded five steals and Ashley Weller added 11 points and six rebounds for the Mounties.
Calhoun Christian 31, Jackson Christian 22: Ella Boll scored eight points and pulled down 14 rebounds and Rennie Huff added eight points for the Royals.
Springport 64, Bellevue 16: The Spartans outscored Bellevue 33-6 in the first quarter and was off to the races. Maddux Locke finished with 26 points and a new school record with 16 steals. Rylee Siefert added 12 points and 10 rebounds, Brenna Crittenden added nine points and five assists, and Hattie Gray scored eight points and dished four assists for Springport.
Dansville 54, Napoleon 26: Maggie Beer and Emma Darnell both scored six points for Napoleon.
Boys Bowling
Columbia Central 28, East Jackson 2: Ethan Senkewitz finished with a 373 series to lead CCHS. Christopher Holcomb also added a 182 game and Reese Bostwick made his varsity debut scoring a 174 game for Columbia Central. Doug Lysher bowled a 341 series for the Trojans.
Napoleon 16, Homer 14: The Pirates remained undefeated in Cascades Conference play with the win Tuesday. Napoleon lost all 10 points in the Baker games but won 16-of-20 individual points. Payton Thorne rolled a 182 game and Ethan Rose finished with a 178 game.
Vandercook Lake 29, Addison 1: Christian Lee finished with a high game of 168 for the Jayhawks.
Girls Bowling
Columbia Central 28, East Jackson 2: Alexis Henry bowled a 209 to lead Columbia Central. East Jackson was led by Tessa Wyngaert with a 154 game.
Jonesville 20, Grass Lake 10: Delaney O’Dale finished with a 363 series for the Warriors.
Homer 26, Napoleon 4: Sydney Gallagher rolled a 236 to lead Napoleon.
Vandercook Lake 29, Addison 1: Marissa Dahn led the Jayhawks with a 165 game.
Awards
Noah Berdiner of Western High School is rewriting the record book for kicking and punting at WHS. And people are taking notice. Berdiner was named as a first-team all-state kicker by the Michigan High School Coaches Association in Division 3. The junior recorded 40 touchbacks, four field goals, 52-of-59 in point after attempts, and a 38.68 punting average. He holds the sing-season records for kickoff average, most field goals, and extra points.
