Lumen Christi 46, East Jackson 20: Allison O’Dowd scored 17 points to lead all scorers. Kennedy Goodwin scored 12 points to lead East Jackson.
Wrestling
Western 63, Jackson 16: Roland London earned a pin for Western at 285 pounds in the most entertaining match of the afternoon. The wrestler had his finger bent backwards, was checked for a concussion, but came back from each injury to record a pin in the second period in front of schoolmates during a 1 p.m. matchup. Kaden Engelter (120), Elijah Crist (126), Ethan St. Andre (132), Titan Parker (157), Adam Carlson (175), Alex Trudell (190), and Aidan Duncan also earned pins for Western. Eden Nguyen (113) and Caden Bayer (144) earned pins for the Vikings in the match.
Columbia Central 45, Lumen Christi 26: Shane Taylor and Dylan Boone were both 2-0 for CCHS on the night during a home tri-meet. James Hart (175) earned a pin for the Titans in the loss.

DeWitt 60, Springport 9: Caleb Wendt earned a 9-3 win for the Spartans at 165 pounds.
Hanover-Horton 36, Concord 20: David Fielder, A.J. Fielder, Isaac Mosley, Cayden Eddy, Tucker McDowell, and Reed Matthews went 2-0 on the day for the Comets.
Concord 36, Tekonsha 12: Nate Fritz, Jordyan Metcalf, Collin Thompson, and Rollen Smith all went 2-0 for the Yellow Jackets to open the season at home.

Grass Lake 26, Jonesville 4: Max Schafran rolled a 247 game and Frank Bednarski finished with a 433 series to lead the Warriors to a 3-0 start in the Cascades Conference.

Vandercook Lake 26, Manchester 4: Mariah Rodriguez bowled a 164 game to lead the Jayhawks.
College Athletic Events
Women’s Basketball
Jackson College 79, Kellogg Community College 63: Kaylona Butler scored 28 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the 3-point line for Jackson. Michelle McGee also finished with 14 points for Jackson College (8-1). The Jets return to action Saturday at home against South Suburban College with a 3 p.m. tipoff.
Spring Arbor 68, Cleary College 36: The Cougars help Cleary to single digits in two of the four quarters in the home win. Alex Long scored 17 points and Alana Nelson added 11 points for Spring Arbor (8-2).
Men’s Basketball
Kellogg Community College 78, Jackson 72: The Jets fell to 5-3 on the season with a road loss in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. Xavier Ford-Belton scored 14 points, Savonn Campbell tallied 13 points, and Antonio King and Maurice Sain added 10 points apiece for the Jets. Jackson College will host Suburban College Saturday for a 5 p.m. start.
Awards
Napoleon High School athlete Holden Van Poppel is so good, he goes by an abbreviation – HVP. Others are taking notice. Van Poppel was chosen as an all-state receiver by members of the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association for Division 7. He set a new school record with 743 receiving yards on 32 catches and nine touchdowns. He also ran 17 times for 156 yards and five touchdowns. Van Poppel – a state champion hurdler – was all-conference in football in 2022 and 2023 and all-region in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
