Boys basketball

Napoleon 69, Columbia Central 46: Grant Bradley scored 24 points, DeVonta Habern tallied 16 points, and Trent Jester added 11 points for the Pirates (1-0). Columbia Central is now 1-1 on the season. Derek Sanders led Columbia Central with 19 points and nine rebounds. 

Onsted 61, Hanover-Horton 55:  The Comets were within three points at the end of the half, but Onsted pulled away in the second half. Logan Blackledge and Luke Soper scored 21 points apiece for Hanover-Horton in the team’s opening game of the season. Soper finished with nine rebounds and Blackledge dished four assists for Hanover-Horton. OHS center Ayden Davis scored 34 points in the win. 

Girls basketball

Jackson Christian 40, Waldron 36: Maggie Hollowood scored 21 points for Jackson Christian. The Royals evened its record at 2-2 with the victory. 

Wrestling

East Jackson, Columbia Central at Leslie Quad: Columbia Central defeated Dansville in one match, 30-27. Nathan Ostrosky (106), Jordan Cromwell (132), and Ty Farmer (190) all earned pins for the Golden Eagles. Wins were also recorded by Colton Plate (157) and Dylan Boone (215). East Jackson won a pair of matches with wins over Dansville, 45-34, and Leslie, 54-30. Earning pins against Dansville were Rogelio Esqvivel-Maldonado (285), Clayton Clark (157), Colton Raffensburger (165), and Dylan Osborne (215). Pins for the Trojans against Leslie included Roberto Mireles (106), McKenna Worthing (120), Dylan Byrd (132), and Maverick Cooper (175).  

Grass Lake at Hillsdale Quad: Grass Lake lost 56-18 against Reading in one match at Hillsdale. Cooper Riddle (106), Wes Edie (120), and Jack Reid (215) all scored pins for the Warriors against Reading. 

Western 63, Jackson 15: The two teams were tied at 9-all early in the match before Western reeled off nine consecutive pins to pull away in the matinee match at Jackson High School. Kaden Engleter (weight class 113), Chandler Martindale (132), Collin Doederlein (138), Titan Parker (144), Owen St. Andre (150), Nolan Wahtola (157), Gabriel Hines (165), Alex Trudell (175), Josh Korts (190), and Aiden Duncan (215) all earned pins for the Panthers. Jackson was paced by Trevor Morehouse (120) and Kyle Bonner (285) with pins.

Michigan Center, Napoleon at Clinton: Clinton High School defeated Michigan Center 66-15 in one match. 

Northwest at Paw Quad: Northwest High School won a pair of matches with a 36-18 win over St. Joseph and a 77-6 win over Central High School. Thomas Fall (106), Cameron Beach (113), Kayden Beach (120), Jeff Miller (126), Blaine Anspaugh (132), Gage Race (138), Garrett Waldron (144), Gavin Beach (150), Braden Gariety (157), Zach Jacobs (165), Izayiah Hawes (190), Adam Haselius (215), and Mason Colestock (286) all earned wins for the Mounties against Central. Gavin Beach (150), Gariety (157), Jacobs (165), Haselius (215) all earned pins for NWHS against St. Joseph. 

Lumen Christi at Manchester Quad: Madison High School defeated Lumen Christi 69-10. Jesus Tavera (144) and Reid Garcia (150) earned wins for the Titans.

Girls bowling

Napoleon 28, Western 2: Gabby Semenchuk finished with a 257 series for Western. 

Boys bowling

Grass Lake 24, East Jackson 6: The two teams split the Baker Games before Grass Lake turned it on during the individual games at Suburban Lanes. The Warriors took 18-of-20 points as Brice Sandoval rolled a 259 game, Max Schafran rolled a 247, Brayden DeWitt finished with a 242 game, and Frank Bednarski bowled a 228. 

Western 16, Napoleon 15 (OT): The two teams were tied at 15-all after regulation and Western won the Baker Game roll-off 214-199 at JAX 60. Tobyn Lepeak rolled a 399 series and Buster Marr finished with a 236 game to lead the Panthers. 

Hockey

Jackson United 4, Lenawee United 0: Easton Craig stopped 20 shots to earn the shutout in goal for Jackson United. Goals were scored by Carson Lacinski, Nick Baumgardner, Cougar Fagan, and Aiden Chappell.  JU is now 3-1-2 on the season with the win.
