Boys basketball

Vandercook Lake 63, Grass Lake 58: The Jayhawks improved to 16-1 with the road win and earned at least a share for the Cascades Conference title. Jermaine Buckner scored 21 points, Demarion Smith added 13 points and eight rebounds, Eric Wilson also scored 13 points, Anthony Jimenez scored 12 points, and Xavion Ingram led the defensive effort for Vandercook Lake. Brayden Lape scored 18 points and Jack Easterday finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Grass Lake (5-12).

Napoleon 83, East Jackson 57: Zack Johnson scored 23 points and Grant Bradley added 19 points for Napoleon (15-2). The Trojans are 4-13 on the season.

Hanover-Horton 65, Michigan Center 63, OT: The Comets improved to 9-8 on the season while the Cardinals are 11-6. Carson Sanders scores 32 points for the Comets.

Hillsdale Academy 55, Jackson Christian 31: The Royals are 5-12 overall for the season following the road loss.

Girls basketball

Springport 58, Quincy 41: Springport celebrated senior night honoring Mackenzie Williamson (two points), Keleigh Larocque (two points), Chloe Neelis (six points), and Ryann Locke with 25 points and 10 steals. Maddux Overweg scored 16 points and tallied nine steals for Springport (15-4 overall, 11-3 Big 8).

Hockey

Jackson United 6, Ann Arbor Huron 0: Jackson United broke a seven-year playoff win drought with the win in the MHSAA Division 1 regional at Brighton. Cougar Fagan scored a pair of goals and Aiden Chappell, Carson Lacinski, Trevor Huttenlocker, and Jake Bishop each scored one goal in the win. Easton Craig earned the shutout in net for Jackson United (13-12). JU will face Brighton at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Kensington Valley Ice House in Brighton in the semifinal round.

G.R. Forest Hills 2, G.R. Catholic 1: Grand Rapids Forest Hills will face Mattawan in the MHSAA Division 3 district semifinal at Optimist on Saturday at 7 p.m. Lumen Christi faces East Grand Rapids at 5 p.m. at Optimist on Saturday. The semifinal winners will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Optimist Ice Arena.
