Boys basketball

Addison 46, Grass Lake 39: Brayden Lape scored 16 points to lead Grass Lake.  

Camden-Frontier 56, Jackson Christian 46: Tate Jacobs led Jackson Christian with 18 points and Christian Guerrero scored 10 points.  

Michigan Center 51, East Jackson 37: Adrien Putnam scored 14 points to lead the Cardinals.

Wrestling

Bronson 78, Concord 3: Nate Fritz won the only match for the Yellow Jackets at 106 pounds.  

Jackson 57, Lumen Christi 16: Jackson High School senior Trevor Morehouse enjoyed a successful night. He celebrated senior night with teammates, won his final home match with a pin, and earned his 100th career wrestling win. Zander Resor (120), Jadion Range (150), Nick Herbert (165), Malik Monroe (215), and Kyle Bonner (285) also earned pins for Jackson. Daniel Simmons (175) and Hayden Rhinehart (190) earned pins for the Titans.  

Michigan Center 48, Grass Lake 22: The Cardinals earned eight voids in the Cascades Conference match on Tuesday. Grass Lake had wins by Wesley Edie (120), Luke Guthrie (144), and Jack Reid (190). 

Northwest 72, Pennfield 9: The Mounties concluded its Interstate-8 Conference season with a win. Northwest registered nine pins in the win at PHS by Thomas Fall (106), Dayton Gorney (113), Kayden Beach (126), Jeff Miller (132), Blaine Anspaugh (138), Garrett Waldron (150), Braden Gariety (157), Antonio Green (175), and Aidyn Williams (285). 

East Jackson tri-meet: East Jackson defeated Vandercook Lake 78-0 and Stockbridge 72-6 at home on Wednesday night. Robert Stokely of East Jackson finished with two pins on the night for the Trojans at 215 pounds. Julius Farrell (132), Clayton Clark (150), and Rogelio Esqvivel-Maldano (285) earned pins against Stockbrige. Roberto Mireles (106), Emily Uyttenhove (144), Brock Davidson (150), and Ares Bergman (190) pinned opponents in the win over VCL. 

Cheer

LCAA at Clinton: Hudson High School won the event scoring 757, Onsted was second at 710, and Columbia Central finished eighth scoring 548.  

Boys Bowling

Grass Lake 30, Addison 0: Max Schafan bowled a 419 series and Brice Sandoval added a 408 series to lead Grass Lake at Hudson Lanes. 

Jonesville 21, Napoleon 9: Both teams rolled a pair of Baker games over 200 to start the match. Ethan Rose recorded high series with a 482 and Dustin Moeckel finished with a 436 to lead Napoleon. 

Western 28, Pennfield 2: Four Panthers rolled games of 200 or better in the win. They include Buster Marr (246), Tobyn LePeak (206), Austin Ball (204) and Jacob Martinez (200). 

Girls Bowling

Grass Lake 17, Addison 13: The Warriors earned a Cascades Conference win at Hudson Lanes against Addison. Natalie Farmer bowled a 357 series and Madison Gardner finished with a 344 series to lead the Warriors. Jenna Asher rolled a 393 series for Addison to lead all bowlers. 

Jonesville 25, Napoleon 5: Georgia Barrus finished with a 326 series and Sam Burgess recorded a 319 series for Napoleon. 

 

Western 21, Pennfield 9: Ashlynn Kurtz finished with a 181 game to lead Western. Gabby Semenchuk added a 246 series for the Panthers. 

Hockey

Jackson United 5, A.A. Huron 2: After falling behind 2-0, JU rallied by scoring the next five goals Kully Miotke scored a pair of goals and single goals were scored by Easton Neitzke, Aiden Chappell, and Cougar Fagan. Nick Nau stopped 29 shots in goal for JU to earn the win. Jackson scored four times in the third period to pull out the win. 

Lumen Christi 8, Kalamazoo United 0:  Zach Jaakkola set a new season record with his sixth shutout of 2022-2023. Jake King scored a hat track and Brett Terry and Nash Hanchett both lit the lamp twice for the Titans. Nolan Varner scored a single goal for Lumen Christi. 

Gymnastics

Jackson Area Gymnastics 138.225, Saline 126.7: Jenna Bradley won the bars (8.6) and the floor (9.275) to lead Jackson Area Gymnastics at home on Wednesday. Megan Jones and Kaitlynn Rumsey tied for first on the vault with 9.05 for JAG and Addi Richmond won the beam scoring 8.75.
