Boys Basketball

Concord 69, Bronson 49: The Yellowjackets improved to 9-0 in the Big Eight Conference with a win over second-place Bronson. Mekhi Wingfield scored 29 points, Connor Steven finished with 16 points, and Jett Smith scored 12 points for Concord. 

Hanover-Horton 77, Vandercook Lake 41: Three players scored in double digits for the Comets as Logan Blackledge finished with 24 points, Luke Soper added 18 points, and Jack Wooster finished with 10 points for the Comets. 

Jackson Christian 36, Waldron 34: Christian Guerrero scored 13 points and Caleb Lanham added nine points for Jackson Christian. 

Jackson 61, Ypsilanti 41: Koronnis Davis scored 22 points and Sherquan Wilson added 12 points for Jackson (10-6). 

Lumen Christi 59,  A.A. Greenhills 38: The Titans improved to 13-2 overall with a win Friday night. Gannon Shore scored 19 points and Kasen Burgess tallied 12 points for Lumen Christi.

Girls Basketball

Columbia Central 62, Homer 46: Hailey Freshcorn scored 20 points and Jaylen Lambka and Rylee Knapp each tallied 13 points for the Golden Eagles.

Springport 45, Hanover-Horton 26: The Spartans locked down the Comets on defense for the non-conference win. Maddux Lock scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished five assists, and created five steals for SHS. Hope Overweg tallied seven points and snared 11 rebounds and Chloey Spear finished with seven points and seven rebounds for Springport. Hanover-Horton was led by Maggie Soper with 13 points. 

Waldron 35, Jackson Christian 20: Ella Boll scored seven points and hauled in 11 rebounds for Jackson Christian. 

Ypsilanti 49, Jackson 38

Michigan Center 72, Manchester 27: The Cardinals improved to 15-1 on the season with the road win. Samantha Wynn scored 20 points and Sophia Allen added six points and seven steals for MCHS. 

Northwest 51, Harper Creek 30: The Mounties improved to 12-1 on the season with a home win Friday. Mara Mitchell scored 23 and Ashley Weller added 20 points for Northwest. 

Western 53, Pennfield 33: The Panthers earned a road win in Interstate-8 Conference play. Three players scored in double digits for Western as Rayah Hitt scored 17 points and hauled in 10 rebounds, Aubree Allen tallied 14, and Bayli Stewart added 10 points for WHS. 

Wrestling

Cascades Conference at Grass Lake: Manchester High School continued its dominance this season in the Cascades Conference winning the final at Grass Lake with 220 points. Napoleon was second (160.5), Hanover-Horton finished sixth (82), Michigan Center was eighth (76.5), Columbia Central placed ninth (69), Grass Lake finished 10th (64), East Jackson was 11th (37), and Vandercook Lake finished 12th (7). In championship matches, Aiden Johnson of Grass Lake defeated Izayah Scott of Napoleon at 106 pounds; Christian Millican of Columbia Central finished second at 113 pounds; Napoleon wrestler Logan Hartman was second at 120 pounds; David Fielder of Hanover-Horton won the 126-pound title; his brother A.J. Fielder took first at 132 pounds; Gavin Berkeypile of Hanover-Horton was second at 144 pounds; Carson Warner of Napoleon defeated Clayton Clark of East Jackson for the championship at 157 pounds; Mason Roth of Napoleon defeated Andrew Beadenkopf of Michigan Center for the title at 165 pounds; and Brady Warner of Napoleon won the title at 190 pounds with a victory over Jack Reid of Grass Lake. 

Boys Bowling

Grass Lake 28, Michigan Center 2: The Warriors came out smoking red hot with Baker games for 243 and 229. Cayden DeWitt rolled a 415 series and  Logan Torcolacci finished with a 414 series for Grass Lake. 

Napoleon 27, Manchester 3: The Pirates had four bowler roll games over 200 as Ethan Rose and Peyton Thorne each finished with 215 games, Reichen Clark bowled a 213, and Conner Bacon tallied a 204. 

Girls Bowling

Michigan Center 26, Grass Lake 4: The Cardinals earned the win Friday afternoon at Suburban Lanes. 

Hockey

Lumen Christi 3, Chelsea 1: Jack O’Shea, Jake King, and Brodie Gregory all scored for Lumen Christi as the Titans earned a road win at Chelse Friday night. Goalie Zach Jaakkola came up big with 32 saves for LCCHS. 

College Athletic Events

Bowling

Jackson College at Montcalm: The winning streak continues for the Jackson College bowling teams as the men’s and women’s team earned their fourth consecutive invitational wins. The men’s team won by 214 pins at the Montcalm Invitational Friday. Logan Schneider rolled the high series of the tournament for the men with a 548 series. Jackson Kremer (fourth), Tobyn LePeak (fifth), and Charlie Teller (ninth) all finished int the top 10 for JC. The Jackson College women won by 479 pins. Abby Gutowski finished with high game (206) and high series (557) in the competition. Kaelin Pond was second, Erin VanderBrink finished fifth, and Olivia Palmer was sixth for Jackson College. Both teams will compete in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Meet next Friday.
