Boys basketball

Vandercook Lake 78, Merritt Academy 43: The Jayhawks improved to 8-0 with a non-conference win at Spring Arbor University.  The Jayhawks had four players in double figures with Anthony Jimenez scoring 14 points, Tyrell Showers scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Jermaine Buckner had 11 points, 13 assists, and seven steals, and Demarion Smith scored 10 points. 

Wrestling

Michigan Center at Williamston Inv.: Two wrestlers for Michigan Center earned top six finishes at Williamston. Carter Mikolajczyk of Michigan Center finished third at 103 pounds and Blake Short finished sixth at 160 pounds

Hanover-Horton at Hopkins: David Fielder won the title at 125 pounds and Gavin Berkeypile finished second at 119 pounds for the Comets. Danni Swihart won the title at 130/140 in the girls’ weight class and Drew Swihart finished fourth in the girls 119/125 weight class. 

Jackson at Grand Ledge: Jackson High School went 2-2 on the day defeating Haslett 84-0 and Grand Ledge 52-21, but losing to Allendale and Hastings. Trevor Morehouse (112), Caden Bayer (130), Tyler Bonner (145), and Jesse Lusby (152) all earned three wins on the day for Jackson. 

Northwest at Lakeview: The Mounties earned first place as a team with 225 total points on the day defeating 14 other teams. Gage Race earned the title at 140 pounds; Zach Jacobs continued his undefeated season with a title at 152 pounds; Braden Gariety took the title at 160 pounds; Gavin Beach was second at 171 pounds; Adam Haselius won first place at 189 pounds; and Alfredo Mendoza took the title at 285 pounds.  

Western at Flushing Inv.: The Panthers finished fourth out of 10 teams at Flushing, defeating DeWitt, Midland Dow, and Gabriel Richard. They lost to Lake Fenton and St. Louis. Titan Parker, Lincoln Raczkowski, A.J. Eichenberg, and Dominic Honsinger were all 5-0 on the day for Western (18-3). Jacob Singleton earned his 100th career win on Saturday improving to 22-1. 

Napoleon at Comstock: Constantine won the team tournament going 5-0. They defeated Napoleon 42-33 in the 10-team tournament. Brenden Yob (119), Ian Albert (140), Hunter Callahan (152) and Nick Marienfeld (160) earned pins in the match against Constantine.

Northwest Invitational: Michigan Center finished second behind Onsted in the Division 3 competition with 679 and Columbia Central was fourth scoring 550. Napoleon won the D-4 competition with 611 and Lumen Christi was third with 568. Northwest finished fourth in the D1/D2 competition with 532. 

Boys Bowling

Hanover-Horton 21, East Jackson 9: Carson Pelton rolled a 423 series and Steven Tripp a 394 for the Trojans. Pelton’s 423 included a personal high-score of 236. Joe Davis of Hanover-Horton flirted with a 300 game throwing 11 strikes in a row, finishing with a 290. Bed Childs also rolled a 470 series for the Comets and Layne Holda finished with a 248 game. 

Hanover-Horton 18, Napoleon 12: The Comets rolled a Baker game of 279. Dustin Moeckel rolled a 203 game, Eric Nordan finished with a 198 game, and Reichen Clark, Seth Kane, and Dayton Cecil all rolled 194s. Ben Childs finished with a 419 series and Joe Davis rolled a 400 series for Hanover-Horton. 

Vandercook Lake 23, East Jackson 7:  Jordan Tripp rolled a 413 series for East Jackson. Damien Rodriguez finished with a 435 series and Camren Lackey rolled 431. 

Vandercook Lake 20, Napoleon 10: Camren Lackey finished with a 453 series to pace the Jayhawks. Dustin Moeckel scored a 278 for the Pirates. 

LCAA at Hudson: Columbia Central won the jamboree at Hudson Lanes. Brayden Steele finished with games of 240 and 194 and Keegan Lewis scored 214 and 191. The Golden Eagles remain in first place in the Lenawee County Athletic Association. 

Girls Bowling

Hanover-Horton 18, East Jackson 12: Desiree Poole finished with a 343 series for East Jackson including a season-high 178 game. 

East Jackson 25, Vandercook Lake 5: Savanna Curry finished with a 295 series for the Trojans, including a season-high 148 game. Allie Curtis finished with a season-high 216 series. 

Napoleon 29.5, Vandercook Lake .5

Napoleon 16, Hanover-Horton 15: The Pirates won in a roll off at JAX 60. Sydney Gallagher rolled a 203, Alexa Brzyski finished with 193, and Sam Burgess rolled games of 187 and 171. 

LCAA at Hudson: The Golden Eagles finished second at the Hudson jamboree at Hudson Lanes. Shanna Dettloff rolled games of 200 and 155 and teammate Niya Holbert finished with games of 193 and 161 for CCHS. 

Hockey

Jackson United 4, Ann Arbor Huron 1: Jackson United returned to the .500 mark with a home win over Huron. JU is 7-7 overall on the season. 

Lumen Christi 1, Okemos 0: The Titans improved to 10-3 on the season with the victory. Kavin Kennedy scored the lone goal and Matt Hoop earned the shutout in goal for the Titans.  

Swimming

Jackson Quad: The Vikings defeated three other teams in a home quad on Saturday. Jackson finished with 201 points, Sturgis was second with 114, Coldwater placed third with 82, and Ypsilanti Lincoln tallied 74 points in the meet.
