Wrestling
Grass Lake Invitational: Hanover-Horton finished 10th as a team, Grass Lake was 12th, Columbia Central placed 14th, and Concord finished 15th. Teams earn points based on individual finishes by their wrestlers. Top four finishers included: Christian Millican of Columbia Central who finished third at 103 pounds; Sam Edie of Grass Lake was second at 112 pounds; David Fielder of Hanover-Horton won the title at 119 pounds; Matt Rankin of Grass Lake finished second at 125 pounds; Collin Thompson of Concord was fourth at 135 pounds; and Josh Frailey took the 152 pound title for Hanover-Horton.
Leslie Invitational: Napoleon High School finished second to New Lothrop at the Leslie Invitational on Saturday. NLHS scored 228, Napoleon finished with 199.5, Michigan Center finished 11th with 49 points, and East Jackson was 13th scoring 43. Top four finishers included: Antonio Bocanegra of Napoleon was fourth at 103 pounds; Brenden Yob of Napoleon finished second at 112 pounds; Aiden Bocanegra finished fourth for the Pirates at 119 pounds; Ian Albert finished third for Napoleon at 140 pounds; Clayton Clark of Michigan Center finished fourth at 145 pounds; Mason Roth won the title at 152 pounds for Napoleon; Nick Marienfeld improved to 39-0 on the season with a championship at 160 pounds; Bart Laretz of Napoleon took third place at 171 pounds; Aiden Nugent of Napoleon placed second at 189 pounds; and Dylan Osborne of East Jackson finished third at 215 pounds.
Portage Central Invitational: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished seventh as a team at Portage Central. Reid Garcia finished second at 135 pounds for the Titans; Travis Frederick earned the title at 125 for LCCHS; and Tobin Okoniewski was second at 130 pounds for Lumen Christi.
Western at Battle Creek Central: Western High School finished fifth as a team at 302 points in the 22-team event. Lincoln Raczkowski (130), Jacob Singleton (145) and Dominic Honsinger (285) were undefeated on the day for Western.
Ovid-Elsie Girls’ Tournament: Danni Swihart went 4-0 on the day winning the girls’ 128-140 weight class for Hanover-Horton. Drew Swihart was fifth at 112-119 pounds for the Comets. Isabel Worthing was second at 138-144 pounds for East Jackson and Kayla Winget finished fourth at 128-140 weight class.
Competitive cheer
Harper Creek Invitational: Western High School finished second and Springport third at the Cheer for a Cure at Harper Creek. The Panthers scored 594 and the Spartans tallied 526.
Hockey

Lumen Christi 5, Kalamazoo Eagles 0: Matt Hoop earned the shutout for the Titans in goal. Five different players scored for LCCHS with goals by Jake King, Nash Hanchett, Brett Terry, Conor Smith, and Kavin Kennedy. Hanchett and Daniel Brady each finished with two assists for Lumen Christi (13-4).
