Girls’ tennis

D-4 state finals at Kalamazoo: Three players from Lumen Christi Catholic High School will be vying for state tennis titles during the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 state finals on Friday. Olivia Eaker of LCCHS will be playing in the No. 4 singles semifinals tomorrow at Portage Central High School. Eaker earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament, received a bye in the opening round, and earned a 6-1, 6-2 win in the second round of the No. 4 singles tournament. She will play the No. 2 seed Mary Chittle from Traverse City St. Francis in the semifinal round on Friday morning. The No. 2 doubles team of Quinn White/Alexa Thompson will be playing at Portage Northern High School on Friday in the semifinal round against Grand Rapids West Catholic. The duo from Lumen won a pair of matches on Thursday to advance in the tournament.

Division 3 district final: Springport High School lost 8-5 in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 district tournament final against host Comstock. Maddux Overweg and Ryann Overweg each scored a pair of goals for the Spartans. Senior Chelsea Hemminger scored the other goal for Springport. SHS goalie Keleigh LaRocque made 10 saves in goal for Springport (6-5). 

Boys’ golf

D-2 regional at Coldwater: Western High School finished 10th and Northwest placed 13th at Coldwater Golf Club on Thursday. The Panthers finished with a four-man total of 365 and the Mounties 389. Eric Bonser shot an 88 and Logan Baum finished with a 90 for Western. Northwest was led by Isaac Anuszkiewicz with an 86 and Devin Kalis finished with an 88. Richland won the regional title (321), St. Joseph was second (332), and Stevensville Lakeshore took the final qualifying spot with 333. 

Baseball

Blissfield 10, Western 0: The Panthers could only scratch out four hits in the non-conference loss.
