Baseball districts

Division 4 District at Concord: Concord High School won its 10th consecutive district title with a 16-0 win over Litchfield and an 11-0 win over Tekonsha in the district final. Isaac O’Dell had a pair of hits in the win over Litchfield. Riley Nieswender was the hero in the district final. He had two hits, knocked in three runs, and pitched a one-hitter in the game. 

Division 4 District at Morenci: Vandercook Lake High School defeated the host school 7-2 in the opening round, but lost to Lenawee Christian in the district final. 

Softball districts

Division 4 District at Dansville: East Jackson High School lost 3-1 to Morrice in the district semifinal. 

District at Vandercook Lake: Concord High School defeated Addison 6-5 in the district semifinal. Vandercook Lake had an easy 20-0 win over Litchfield in the other semifinal. The Jayhawks defeated Concord 20-1 in four innings in the district final. Kate Leach had four hits and knocked in five runs and Morgan LeFaive pitched a one-hitter for Vandercook in the district final. Chloe Melville-Schweda had three hits – including a home run – and knocked in five runs for the Jayhawks in the win over Litchfield. Vandercook will face Dansville at Concord High School in the regional semifinal on Saturday at noon.  

Girls’ soccer district finals

Division 2

District 20 at Mason

Marshall 3, Western 0: The Panthers finished the season with an 11-5-2 record following a loss to their Interstate-8 Conference foes Friday at Mason High School. Marshall scored two goals in the final 10:25 of the game to break open a close contest. 

Division 4

District 52 at Lumen Christi

Kalamazoo Christian 3, Lumen Christi 2: Ryan McCormick scored both goals for the Titans in the Division 4 district final at home on Friday. Taylor Leonard scored two goals and assisted on another as the Comets scored three times in the final 20 minutes of the game to pull out the win. 

Girls’ tennis finals

Division 3 state finals at Holland: Western High School scored six points yesterday during the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state tennis finals. Teagan Robertson and Alena Engle of Western will be playing in the semifinals in No. 4 doubles this morning. The duo won a pair of matches yesterday including a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 match against Grand Rapids Christian to reach the semifinal round. 

Division 4 state finals at Portage: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished seventh in the state with 17 points at the Division 4 state finals on Thursday and Friday. Olivia Eaker won a state title at No. 4 singles with a pair of matches on Friday. She defeated Mary Chittle of Traverse City 5-7, 7-6(3) and 6-4 in the semifinals. Eaker won the title with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Erika Graham of Gabriel Richard in the finals. The No. 2 doubles team from Grand Rapids West Catholic defeated Quinn White and Alexa Thompson of Lumen Christi 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinal match.
