Baseball

Concord 5, Union City 3: Concord overcame a 3-1 deficit to pull out the win. Logan Lamb had a pair of hits and CHS pitcher Riley Nieswender struck out seven batters for the Yellow Jackets. 

Union City 5, Concord 2: Union City scored three runs in the final two innings to pull out the split. Isaac O’Dell, Tyler Carpenter, and Lewis Fritz had two hits apiece for Concord (13-14). 

Columbia Central 10, Dundee 3: Nico Hyliard and Ethan Emerson had two hits apiece for the Golden Eagles. Ryan Ladd earned the win with four strikeouts for Columbia Central (9-16). 

Columbia Central 11, Dundee 0: Cameron Adams had two hits and knocked in two runs for the Golden Eagles. 

Coldwater 10, Northwest 0: The Mounties were limited to two hits in the loss. 

Coldwater 7, Northwest 2: Ethan Anspaugh struck out four batters for Northwest. 

Dexter 14, Jackson 0: The Vikings only had hits by Sam Arvy and Nathan Hobbs. 

Quincy 8, Springport 2: Matt Riehle struck out four batters for the Spartans. 

Western 13, Hastings 1: Caden Oliver and Joey Ellis had two hits apiece for the Panthers. 

Western 9, Hastings 0: Ethan Trader had stuck out seven batters in the shutout win for Western. 

Marshall 4, Lumen Christi 1: Owen Garcia struck out five batters on the mound for the Titans. 

Marshall 2, Lumen Christi 1: Owen Garcia had two hits and R.J. Fitzgibbons struck out three batters for the Titans. 

Softball

Northwest 10, Coldwater 0: Nevaeh Ingram struck out 15 batters and pitched a six-inning no hitter for the Mounties. Danielle Louagie knocked in four runs for the Mounties. 

Northwest 7, Coldwater 0: Nevaeh Ingram threw a second no-hitter against Coldwater with 17 strikeouts. Madison Neitzke had three hits and Campbell Kloack knocked in three runs for the Mounties. 

 

Quincy 9, Springport 3: Rebekkah Betz had three hits for the Spartans. 

Quincy 13, Springport 0: The Spartans were limited to four hits in the loss. 

Western 18, Hastings 1: Merritt Baker had three hits and Madi Warner knocked in four runs for the Panthers. Hailey Whisman struck out nine batters for WHS (15-9). Ashley Sturgill and Whisman combined for a no-hitter. 

Western 15, Hastings 0: Jaymee Herrington knocked in three runs and Ashley Williams struck out seven batters on the mound for Western in pitching the team’s second no-hitter of the night.

Boys’ track and field

East Jackson, Napoleon at Addison: Addison defeated both East Jackson and Napoleon at home. The Pirates defeated East Jackson 109-23. Jacob Darling won the 800-meter run for Napoleon (2:19); Kyler Pequet won the 1,600-meter run (5:14); and Alex Darnell won the 3,200-meter run (10:29) for Napoleon. Addison won four of the five field events and three of four relays. Randy Reddick finished second in the 400-meter dash (57.66) for the Trojans. 

Grass Lake, Michigan Center at Hanover-Horton: Brennen Bargesser won the 100-meter dash (11.06), the 200-meter dash (22.83), and the 400-meter dash (52.25) for the Warriors. Jack Easterday also won three events for GLHS, winning the 110-meter hurdles (16.45), the 300-meter hurdles (43.58), and the high jump (6-0). Dean Reynolds of HHHS won the 800-meter run (2:09) and the 1,600-meter run (4:32). Lucas Maier won the long jump (18-3.5) for Michigan Center. 

Lumen Christi, Northwest, Hastings at Harper Creek: Battle Creek Harper Creek and Hastings dominated the quad meet against Northwest and Lumen Christi. The two teams won all 17 events in the boys’ meet. Matt Hoop finished third in the 1,600-meter run (4:54) and the 3,200-meter run (10:56). Dylan Gloar finished third in the long jump (18-0) for the Mounties. 

Vandercook at Manchester: The Flying Dutchmen dominated the meet against the Jayhawks. Kyle Stiles won the discus for the Jayhawks (106-8). Kylie Baldwin won the 100-meter dash (13.0) and the 200-meter dash (28.2) for the Jayhawks. Chloe Melville-Schweda won the shot put (28-3) and Madison Campbell won the discus (74-11) for VCL.

Western at Pennfield: Western easily won the meet against Pennfield, winning 15-of-16 events. Michael McAninich won the shot put (40-4.5) and the discus (126-8) for Western.   

Girls track and field

East Jackson, Napoleon at Addison: Amelia Jonas won the high jump (4-10) and the long jump (14-2) for the Pirates. Brynn Mericle won the 100-meter hurdles (17.62) and the 300-meter hurdles (51.03) for East Jackson. Napoleon defeated East Jackson and Addison. The Panthers defeated East Jackson. 

Grass Lake, Michigan Center at Hanover-Horton: Jennifer Sherwood won the shot put (31-6) and the discus (101-9) for Grass Lake. The Warriors defeated Michigan Center and Hanover-Horton in the tri-meet. Kate Paterson won the 400-meter dash (1:09) for Michigan Center. Carly Cure won the high jump (4-8) for the Comets. Grass Lake won all four relays and 11 of 17 events.  

Lumen Christi, Northwest, Hastings at Harper Creek: The Jackson teams dominated the sprints and distance races. Julie Warneck won the 100-meter dash (13.55) for the Mounties and Renae Kutcha of Lumen Christi won the 200-meter dash (26.61) and the 400-meter dash (58.93). Madison Osterberg won the 1,600-meter run (5:27) and the 3,200-meter run (11:52) for the Titans. 

Vandercook at Manchester: The Flying Dutchmen defeated the Jayhawks 95-28. Kylie Baldwin won the 100-meter dash (13.0) and the 200-meter dash (28.2) for the Jayhawks. Chloe Melville-Schweda won the shot put (28-3) and Madison Campbell won the discus (74-11) for VCL. 

Western at Pennfield: The Panthers scored 100 points in defeating Battle Creek Pennfield. Anna Burke won the 400-meter dash (1:04), the 100-meter hurdles (17.8), and the high jump (4-8) for Western.

Girls’ tennis

Columbia Central 7, Lansing Christian 1: Sydnee Miller and Emma Moore won contested matches for the Golden Eagles at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Carolina Collingsworth/Madeline Maki won at No. 1 doubles for CCHS. 

 

Jackson 7, Tecumseh 1: Delaney Jones, Katy Krieger, and Courtney Jones won singles’ matches for the Vikings at Nos. 2-4 respectively. 

Golf
 
Michigan Center Invitational: Evan Brzyski and John DuBois won the two-man scramble competition with a 3-under-par round. Lumen Christi won the team competition with 230 and Michigan Center was second with 237.
