Baseball

Concord 10, Pittsford 4: The Yellow Jackets scored six runs in the fifth inning to break open a close game. Levi Raymond and Bobby Ward knocked in a pair of runs each for Concord (14-15). 

Pittsford 10, Concord 6: Concord let an early lead split away in the final three innings of the game. Isaac O’Dell had three hits and Tyler Carpenter recorded three RBIs for Concord. 

Lumen Christi 13, Hanover-Horton 2: The Comets fell at home in a non-conference game against the Titans (10-5). 

Softball

Pittsford at Concord: Concord earned its fourth and fifth wins of the season with a pair of victories over Pittsford, 22-11 and 11-1. 

Hanover-Horton 15, Lumen Christi 1: Alexis Flint earned the shutout win for the Comets, striking out nine batters and scattering two hits. Mayson Scally and Madison Bunch finished with three hits apiece for Hanover-Horton (20-8). 

Hanover-Horton 19, Lumen Christi 4: Lexie Schuette had three hits and knocked in two runs for the Comets. Lauren Hassenzahl struck out seven batters on the mound for HHHS. Kadence Hinkley had a hit for the Titans. 

Jonesville 4, Michigan Center 1

Jonesville 6, Michigan Center 2 

Western 10, Olivet 5: Ashley Williams collected three hits and two RBIs for the Panthers. Hailey Whisman struck out six batters and pitched a complete game for WHS.  

Western 5, Olivet 4: Western scored four times in the fifth inning to pull out the win. Ashley Williams struck out eight batters on the mound and Abby Nieswender collected a pair of RBIs for WHS. 

Stockbridge 5, Grass Lake 2: The 24-game winning streak for the Warriors came to an end Thursday night. Bailey Hartrum of Stockbridge limited Grass Lake to four hits and struck out nine batters. Laney Brown pitched all seven innings for the Warriors and struck out two batters. 

Girls’ soccer

Grass Lake 4, Adrian 0: The Warriors are 5-2 in their last seven games. 

Dexter 2, Jackson 0: The Vikings are now 6-7 on the season. 

Boys’ golf

Cascades Conference jamboree: Hanover-Horton High School won its Cascades Conference jamboree at Arbor Hills. The Comets finished with a four-man total of 164, Napoleon shot 182, Grass Lake finished third with 193, Michigan Center was one stroke behind the Cardinals, East Jackson was fifth at 199, and Addison placed sixth with 233. Brogan Brockie of HHHS shot a 1-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors. Ben Maino of East Jackson finished second (38), Evan Brzyski of Napoleon placed third (40), Ryder Pickering of HHHS was fourth (42), and Zach Lutz of Vandercook Lake (43) tied for fifth with Kyler Rod of Hanover-Horton. 

Chelsea Invitational: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished fifth at the 18-hole invitational at Chelsea. The Titans shot a four-man total of 370 as Owen Campbell shot an 85 and Nash Hanchett finished with an 89. 

Big Eight Conference jamboree at Bronson: Springport High School won another Big Eight Conference jamboree, this time at Bronson. The Spartans finished with a four-man total of 193 and Concord was fifth with 215 at the jamboree. Cody Hellard and Sam Helmbreck shot 51s for Concord. 

Girls’ tennis

Western 8, Three Rivers 0: The Panthers swept the singles competition with wins by Caroline Davenport at No. 1 singles;  a 6-2, 6-1 win for Renee Marston at No. 2 singles; Tavia Hess won a three-set match at No. 3 singles; and Mena Smarch won at No. 4 singles for Western (10-2-2). 

PGA Tour

Birdies were flying at the PGA Tour stop at the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament near McKinney, Texas. Brian Stuard shot a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday but finds himself six shots behind the leaders and in 77th place. He tees off at 8:18 on Friday attempting to make the cut. Stuard lives in nearby Fort Worth, Texas.
