Baseball

Concord 12, Springport 11: The Spartans scored five time in the seventh inning to take the lead, but Concord bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to earn the win. Tyler Carpenter had three hits in the game for Concord. Caleb Kregel recorded three hits and knocked in a pair of runs for Springport. 

Concord 10, Springport 0: Ross Weeks struck out five batters in the Concord win. 

Homer 15, Hanover-Horton 1: The Comets scored one run in the first inning but were shut out the remainder of the game.

Softball

Homer 7, Hanover-Horton 6: The Trojans scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead. Alexis Flint struck out six batters for the Comets. 

Homer 15, Hanover-Horton 10: Danni Swihart recorded three hits for the Comets. 

Northwest 15, Clinton 0: The Mounties scored 11 runs in the second inning. Campbell Kloack knocked in three runs and Nevaeh Ingram and Natalie Lutz each had three hits in the win. 

Northwest 7, Clinton 0: Nevaeh Ingram was the star of the game with two hits and two RBIs at the plate and 12 strikeouts on the mound for Northwest. 

Western 4, Bronson 2: Western scored three times in the fourth inning to break open a scoreless game. Abby Stoetzel and Ashley Williams each had a pair of hits and an RBI. 

Bronson 6, Western 1: Hailey Whisman tallied two of the Panthers’ four hits in the game. 

Concord 9, Springport 8: Jayden Householder tallied three hits for the Yellow Jackets. Abby Heisler and Madeline Maher each finished with two hits for the Spartans (5-11). 

Springport 14, Concord 7: Brenna Crittenden of Springport knocked in three runs in the win. Karlee Gamet struck out seven batters on the mound for Concord (6-21).  

Girls’ soccer

Quincy 3, Columbia Central 2

Jackson 7, Adrian 0: Seven different Vikings scored goals in the home win on Thursday. 

Jackson Christian 6, Jonesville 2: The Royals won two-of-three soccer matches this week.

Boys’ golf

I-8 championship Marshall: Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished fourth (352), Western placed fifth (358), and Northwest was sixth (360) at the Interstate Eight Conference meet at Bedford Valley. Owen Campbell shot 83 to tie for eighth individually and Brendan Stevens shot 87 for the Titans. Western golfer Logan Baum shot an 83 to tie Campbell for eighth and Eric Bonser an 86 in the championship. Isaac Anuszkiewicz shot an 87 and Tyler Richard finished with an 89 to lead Northwest. The Mounties won their first I-8 conference title, finishing with 37 points to edge Marshall by three points. Lumen Christi finished fifth and Western was seventh. 

Girls’ tennis

D-4 regional at Hillsdale: Lumen Christi Catholic High School won the regional tournament at Hillsdale High School with 18 points. Kalamazoo Hackett finished second with 16 points. Columbia Central was fourth scoring five points. The top two teams advance to the state tournament at Portage June 3, 4. Laura Craft/Kaitlyn Sallee and Lily Melnick/Ella Melatich won regional titles at doubles Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Michaela Hauer, Claire Papoulias, and Olivia Eaker were regional champs at singles 2-4 respectively.

Division 3 at Three Rivers: Western High School dominated the regional, earning 30 of a possible 32 points and advancing to the Division 3 state tennis finals. The Panthers will compete in the Division 3 state finals at Holland on June 4, 5. Winning regional titles for the Panthers were Caroline Davenport (No. 1 singles); Renee Marston (No. 2 singles); Tavia Hess (No. 3 singles); Belle Sexton/Maria Macchia (No. 1 doubles); Alison Delor/Bella Brushaber (No. 2 doubles); Faith Holton/Kenzie Hiler (No. 3 doubles); Alena Engle/Teagan Robertson (No. 4 doubles).
