Baseball

Blissfield 11, Columbia Central 1: Ethan Emerson had a pair of hits and knocked in the only run for the Golden Eagles. 

Blissfield 15, Columbia Central 0: The Golden Eagles could only muster a pair of hits in the loss. 

Jonesville 10, Concord 4: Isaac O’Dell recorded a pair of hits for Concord in the loss. 

Jonesville 8, Concord 6:  Bobby Ward struck out seven batters on the mound for Concord. 

Lumen Christi 3, Western 2: Connor Dancer had a pair of hits for the Titans in the win. Brody Dalton struck out six batters on the mound for LCCHS. Ethan Trader pitched all seven innings for the Panthers striking out six batters. 

Western 7, Lumen Christi 4: The Panthers scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Cohen Spitzer had two RBIs for Western. Lumen Christi was paced by Cooper Keene with four hits. 

Union City 12, Springport 2: Matt Riehle struck out five batters on the mound for the Spartans. 

Union City 16, Springport 3: The Chargers scored eight times in the first inning against the Spartans. 

Marshall 16, Northwest 6: Ethan Anspaugh struck out five batters for the Mounties. 

Marshall 12, Northwest 0: Northwest could only muster a pair of hits in the loss. 

Softball

Northwest 12, Marshall 0: Nevaeh Ingram struck out 15 batters and scattered three hits for Northwest. Maddison Rowley knocked in four runs for the Mounties. 

Northwest 10, Marshall 0: Ingram and Cora Pilaczynski combined for a no-hitter for the Mounties. Both players had a pair of hits in the win against Marshall.

Blissfield 14, Columbia Central 10: Alyssa Fisher had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Golden Eagles in the contest. 

Blissfield 24, Columbia Central 2: Blissfield scored 13 runs in the fourth inning against the Golden Eagles. 

Jonesville 10, Concord 0: Concord failed to get a hit against Jonesville in the doubleheader. 

Jonesville 22: Concord 0: Lyra Nichols pitched a no-hitter for Jonesville against the Yellow Jackets in game two. 

 

Western 17, Lumen Christi 0: Merritt Baker had three hits and Abby Nieswender knocked in four runs for the Panthers. 

Western 17, Lumen Christi 1: Hailey Whisman threw a two-hitter for Western against the Titans.  Madi Warner finished with two hits and two RBIs for Western in the win. 

Springport 18, Union City 3: Rachel Potter finished with two hits and three RBIs for the Spartans. 

Springport 15, Union City 2: Kelsey Speer was the hero with three hits, two RBIs, and striking out 11 batters on the mound for Springport. 

Boys’ track and field

Cascades Final at Michigan Center: Grass Lake won the conference meet and championship with 142 points. Addison finished second (113), Manchester placed third (96.2), Napoleon was fourth (85.4), Hanover-Horton was right behind the Pirates (84.2), Michigan Center finished sixth (78), East Jackson was seventh (33.2), and Vandercook Lake finished eighth (18). Brennen Bargesser of Grass Lake won a pair of individual events winning the 100-meter dash (10.89) and the 400-meter dash (48.69). SCAA track and field finals: Jackson Christian finished 13th in the boys’ meet with three points. 

I-8 Conference final at Northwest:  Western High School finished second in the meet with 146.5 points. Lumen Christi finished sixth (29) and Northwest eighth (7). Julius Adams won the 100-meter dash (11.82 seconds) for Western. The Panthers also won the 800-meter relay (1:37) with Jayden Horhn, Jackson Kuntzelman, Jacob McDonald, and Lincoln Raczkowski. Michael McAninich won the shot put (47-2) and the discus (137-5) for WHS.

Joey Schonhard was second for Lumen Christi in the high jump (6-0). 

Girls’ track and field

 

Cascades Final at Michigan Center: Napoleon and Grass Lake tied for the top spot at the Cascades Conference meet at Michigan Center with 117 points. Manchester was third (108), Addison placed fourth (90), Hanover-Horton was fifth (83), Michigan Center placed sixth (44), East Jackson was seventh (38), and Vandercook finished eighth (36). Lexus Bargesser of Grass Lake won three events taking the 100-meter dash (12.24), the 200-meter dash (25.10), and the 400-meter dash (57.2). Napoleon had defeated the Warriors earlier in the season in a dual meet but lost to Manchester. The Pirates claimed the Cascades Conference title by winning the league meet. 

SCAA track and field finals: Jackson Christian finished 11th at Hilldale with one point. 

I-8 Conference final at Northwest:  Western High School easily won the conference meet and title with a score of 164. Lumen Christi finished fourth (67) and Northwest was eighth (21). The Panthers won three of the four relays and Lily Kucharek won the shot put (38-1.5) and the discus (121-1). Ann Burk won the 300-meter hurdles (48.6) and the high jump (5-0). Madison Osterberg won the 800-meter run (2:18) and the 1,600-meter run (5:21) and Renae Kutcha took first in the 400-meter dash (58.52) and the 200-meter dash (28.11). Boys’ golf

Vandercook Cascades Conference jamboree: Hanover-Horton won the last jamboree of the season at Ella Sharp Park Golf Course. The Comets shot a four-man total of 155. Napoleon was second (175), Michigan Center took third (186), East Jackson and Grass Lake both shot 190, and Addison 228. Kyler Rod and Brady Applegate and Even Brzyski of Napoleon tied for medalist honors with 37s. Brogan Brockie of Hanover-Horton finished fourth (38) and Ben Maino of East Jackson was fifth (40). The teams will compete again Thursday at Ella Sharp Park during the conference final tournament. 

Big Eight Conference tournament: Springport High School finished second with a four-man total of 397 and Concord was fourth at 469. Tanner Benden led Springport with a 92 and Cameron Chajkowski finished with a 95. Concord was led by Alex Grundeman with 107. Benden and Chajkowski finished second and third respectively in the final individual standings to earn all-conference honors. They were joined by teammate Race Spurbeck. The Spartans won the school’s second conference championship in boys’ golf, the first since 2003. 

Girls’ tennis

I-8 Tournament: Western High School won the Interstate Eight Conference tournament for the first time with 58 points. Lumen Christi finished second with 54. Caroline Davenport and Tavia Hess won singles titles at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. The No. 2 doubles team of Alison Delor/Bella Brushaber; No. 3 doubles team of Kenzie Hiler/Faith Holton; and No. 4 doubles team of Alena Engle/Teagan Robertson also won titles. Michaela Hauer and Olivia Eaker won singles titles for Lumen Christi at Nos. 2 and 4, respectively. The No. 1 doubles team of Kenzie Rowley/Ashleigh Black finished fifth for Northwest. 

Chelsea 8, Western 0: Western finishes the regular season with an 11-3-2 record.
