Baseball

Concord 16, Athens 6: Tyler Carpenter recorded two hits and Timar Spratley knocked in two runs for the Yellow Jackets. Ross Weeks struck out five batters on the mound for Concord (10-13). 

Girls’ soccer

Jackson at Ypsilanti Lincoln: Jackson High School defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln 7-1. Rylie Dubois scored a pair of goals and Liv Perrine, Elena Alvarado, Ella Moore, Abby Hunt, and Shai McKinney scored one goal apiece for Jackson. The Vikings are 6-4 overall, riding a four-game winning streak in the process. 

Boys’ golf

Cascades Conference jamboree: Hanover-Horton High School won its third consecutive jamboree with a win at the Grande Golf Club on Thursday. The Comets finished with a four-man total of 159, Napoleon was second scoring 180, Michigan Center shot 182, Grass Lake finished fourth at 202, East Jackson shot 214, and Addison 276. Brogan Brockie shot a 1-under-par 35 and teammate Kyler Rod shot a 38. Ben Maino of East Jackson finished third shooting 39, Evan Brzyski of Napoleon and Brody Shannon of Michigan Center finished with 40s, and John DuBois finished with a 42 for Napoleon.  

LCAA jamboree: Columbia Central High School finished sixth at the Lenawee County Athletic Association jamboree at Devils Lake Golf Course. Hillsdale won the event with a four-man total of 181 and Columbia Central finished with a score of 209. Matthew Ostrander led the Golden Eagles with a 47. 

Softball

Athens 16, Concord 4: Haylie Kowalski struck out five batters for Concord (2-17). 

PGA Tour 

Napoleon native Brian Stuard is tied for 10th at the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour Thursday. Stuard shot a 3-under-par 68 at Quail Hollow Club near Charlotte, N.C. He teed off Friday at 7:01 a.m. in the second round.
