Volleyball

Columbia Central tri-meet: Columbia Central High School defeated Quincy 25-12 and 25-6, and Sand Creek 25-12 and 25-11 during a home quad meet on Wednesday. Bailey Surque recorded 13 kills, Kenadee Tompkins dished 27 assists, Mia Taylor finished with 13 service points, and Sydnee Miller had 21 digs for Columbia Central. The Golden Eagles are ranked No. 7 in the first Associated Press Division 3 poll.  

Britton Deerfield at Jackson Christian: Britton Deerfield High School earned a 3-0 win over Jackson Christian. Madi Conrad tallied three kills and Liv Conrad finished with three aces for Jackson Christian. 

Vandercook Lake tri-meet: Western High School was the big winner defeating Vandercook Lake and Lumen Christi 2-0. The Titans took care of VCL in the other match 2-0. Kayda Herrick finished with eight kills, Brynn Rogers tallied 29 assists, and Hannah Pratt finished with 22 digs for Western (6-0). 

 

Springport at Napoleon: Napoleon High School defeated Springport 25-19, 26-28, 25-14, and 25-21 at home Wednesday night. Momo Hampton scored 29 assists and five aces, Sam Conaway tallied 11 kills, and Emme VanPoppel finished with 10 kills for Napoleon. 

Cross country

Hillsdale Invitational: Hanover-Horton High School finished second in both the boys’ 5K event and the girls’ race. Hillsdale Academy won the girls’ event with 37 points, Hanover-Horton scored 50 for second place, and Napoleon placed fourth scoring 112. Sophia Reynolds of Hanover-Horton finished third in 20 minutes, 54 seconds, Hope Wilkes of Columbia Central was sixth in 21:35, and Lauren McClain of Napoleon placed 17th overall in 23:00. Hillsdale Academy also won the boys’ race with 76 points, Hanover-Horton scored 89, Napoleon finished fifth with 136, and Columbia Central was 10th with 195. Jacob Walker of CCHS earned another invitational title with a time of 16:26, Rogan Melling of HHHS finished second in 16:39, and Kyler Pequet of Napoleon placed ninth with a time of 18:24. 

Concord Invitational: Jonathan Mikovits and Joe Bulko of Concord High School finished first and second respectively at the Concord Invitational on Wednesday. Mikovits ran 17:32 and Bulko finished the 5K course in 17:43 helping the Yellow Jackets earn first place as a team in the boys’ race. Northwest finished fifth in the boys’ race as Hudson Cooper finished 21st in 20:09. Concord finished fifth in the girls’ event and Northwest was sixth. Haylee Rinehart of Concord was 12th in 23:32 and Stacia Hedrich of Northwest led the Mounties by finishing 24th in 25:01. 

Boys soccer

Grass Lake 4, Manchester 2: Henry Black scored two goals and Dylan Griffor and Gus Vitale each added a score for the Warriors. Jack Easterday came up with some big saves to earn the win in goal for Grass Lake (4-2-1).  

Hillsdale 2, Michigan Center 1: The Cardinals fell to 4-1 overall with a loss on the road to Hillsdale.  

 

Chelsea 2, Jackson 0: Jackson High School is now 1-5 with the road loss on Tuesday. . 

Girls golf

Interstate-8 jamboree at Hastings: Western High School won the jamboree with 185 and Lumen Christi was fourth at 204. The Panthers shot a four-man total of 185 as Sydnie Redovich shot a 2-under-par 34 and Brune Savage shot a 42. The Titans were led by Caroline Hilderley and Michaela Hauer with 48s. 

Boys tennis

Western 4, Lansing Catholic 4: The two teams split singles and doubles competitions on Tuesday. Ryan Perkins and Noah McCollum won singles matches at Nos. 1 and 4 respectively.
