Volleyball

Concord 3, Reading 2: The Yellow Jackets won game five 15-8 to earn the Big Eight Conference victory. Georgia Weeks tallied 16 kills, Hadley Kettwich dished 40 assists, and Karlee Gamet finished with 33 digs for Concord (4-4 overall, 1-0 Big Eight).  

Grass Lake 3, East Jackson 0:  The Warriors swept East Jackson in Cascades Conference action. Ruby Johnson scored six kills and Abby Buttigieg finished with 18 digs, 16 service points and four aces for Grass Lake. 

Manchester 3, Hanover-Horton 1: The Comets won 25-12 in game two but could not pull out any other victories in the Cascades Conference match. 

Western 3, Lumen Christi 0: The Panthers won 25-12, 25-12, and 25-13 at home on Wednesday. Kayda Herrick finished with eight kills, Sydney Kellar finished with five aces, Hannah Pratt finished with 20 digs, and Brynn Rogers recorded 28 assists for Western (7-0). 

Napoleon 3, Michigan Center 1: Momo Hampton had 39 assists and 14 service points to lead Napoleon. Emme VanPoppel tallied 17 kills, Kaitlyn Pequet tallied 19 digs, and Karson Fairbanks recorded six blocks for the Pirates. 

Cross country

Springport Invitational: Concord High School won the girls’ Division 3 team competition. Rogan Melling of Hanover-Horton High School edged Jacob Walker of Columbia Central in the Division 1 boys’ race. No other results were available on the www.athletic.net site. 

 

 

Girls golf

IGL at Onsted: Columbia Central High School finished third and Concord fourth at the Independent Golf League jamboree at Devils Lake Golf Course. Logan Bentley of Columbia Central shot a 43 to finish second individually. Concord was led by Hannah Stimer with a 52 and Faith Moore scoring a 54. 

Interstate-8 at Marshall: Lumen Christi Catholic High School won the Interstate-8 Conference tournament at Marshall Country Club. The Titans shot 181 and Western finished third with 196. Ashley Hilderley of Lumen Christi finished second individually with a 42 and Anna McClure was third with a 43. Sydnie Redovich of Western earned medalist honors with a 41.
