Boys Basketball

Concord 47, Maple Valley 42: Mekhi Wingfield led the way with 22 points for Concord. The Yellowjackets are not 7-0 in the Big Eight Conference and 9-4 overall.

Tecumseh 60, Jackson 49: The Vikings were led by Amarion Moore with 15 points and Berkley Drummond with 12.

Lumen Christi 62, Riverview Gabriel Richard 49: The Titans earned a win against the No. 1 ranked team in Division 3 at home Friday. Luke Tropea led the Titans with 22 points and four assists and Kadale Williams finished with points. 

Western 47, Northwest 28: Gibson French scored 14 points and Aiden Barrett added 11 points for the Panthers. 

Springport 62, Reading 36

Girls Basketball

Columbia Central 61, Addison 39: Jaylen Lambka hit four 3-point shots as the Golden Eagles scored 21 points in the first quarter.  Lambka finished with 12 points, Rylee Knapp scored 15 points, Sis Slatt scored 13 points, and Hailey Freshcorn added 10 points for CCHS. 

Grass Lake 54, East Jackson 11: The Warriors got a little defensive in the Cascades conference win. Kate Starkey scored 18 points and dished four assists, Grace Bullock added nine points, and Olivia Turner scored six points for Grass Lake. 

Hanover-Horton 43, Homer 39: The Comets won another close contest in the Cascades Conference. Maggie Soper scored 13 points and Morgan Kuhl finished with nine points and 15 rebounds for the Comets. 

Jackson Christian 23, Litchfield 22: The Royals are on a modest three-game winning streak with the home victory. Shaina McCombs scored six points and pulled down six rebounds and Rennie Huff hit two free throws with 17 seconds remaining to put the Royal ahead for good.

Lumen Christi 38, Gabriel Richard 21: The Lumen Christi defense did a job of GR allowing just seven field goals for the game. Leading the offense for the Titans was Allison O’Dowd, 13 and Paige Lefere scored 10 points in the win. 

Michigan Center 54, Napoleon 22: The Cardinals are now 14-0 on the season with the Cascades Conference win over Napoleon. 

Northwest 53, Western 43: The Panthers jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Mounties battled back to earn the Interstate-8 Conference win on the road Friday. Mara Mitchell scored 17 points, Ashley Weller finished with 15 points, and Lucy Bivens hit three, 3-point shots for nine points for NWHS. Western was led by Bayli Stewart with 19 points in the contest. 

Wrestling

Ovid-Elsie Girls Invitational: McKenna Worthing of East Jackson finished second at 120 pounds; Drew Swihart of Hanover-Horton placed third at 130 pounds; and Peyton Huston of Columbia Central was fourth at 140 pounds.   

Boys Bowling

Grass Lake 26, East Jackson 4: Cayden DeWitt rolled a 415 series and Max Schafran added a 411 series for Grass Lake. Kaden Mortzfield rolled a 179 game and Peyton Myers added 175 game for East Jackson.  

Michigan Center 30, Addison 0

Hanover-Horton 26, Leslie 4: Joe Davis rolled a 374 series for the Comets at City Limits. 

Marshall 29, Northwest 1: Thomas Dodson rolled a 294 series to lead Northwest in the Interstate-8 Conference match at Marshall. 

Girls Bowling

Grass Lake 29, East Jackson 1: Delaney O’Dale finished with a 460 series for Grass Lake to lead all bowlers. Marielle Schafran finished with a 196 game for the Warriors. Tessa Wyngaert finished with a 348 series to lead East Jackson. 

Michigan Center 28, Addison 2

Northwest 17.5, Marshall 12.5: Jayla Pruitt rolled games of 176 and 150 to lead the Mounties. 

Hockey

Kenowa Hills 4, Jackson 3 (SO): Jackson United finished 1-1 in the Chelsea Showcase Tournament Thursday and Friday, winning one in a shootout and losing a contest Friday in the same format. KW scored with nine seconds remaining in the third period to force a shootout. Peyton Paquin scored twice and Hayden Haynes added the other goal for JU.

Lumen Christi 7, Eagles 1: Luke DuMont scored a pair of goals and Isaiah Dinverno and Luke Sexton each recorded a pair of assists for Lumen Christi in the home win. Goals were also scored by Brodie Gregory, Jake King, Sexton, Dinverno, and Isaac Rehberg. Zach Jaakkola earned the win in goal for Lumen Christi (12-3-1). 

College Athletic Events

Bowling

Jackson College at Kellogg Invitational: Jackson College won another invitational as the men’s team finished three individual games and four Baker games with a team score of 4,191 to win by more than 500 pins at the Kellogg Invitational. The JC women made it a little more exciting winning by 53 pins with 3,566. Trey Richmond was the star of the day on the men’s side with high game (214) and high series (588). Kaelin Pond earned the top game of the day on the women’s side with a 222.  

Women’s Basketball

Jackson College 77, Mott CC 63: The Jets improved to 16-2 overall with a home win Friday against Mott Community College. Jackson College had four players in double digits as Kaylona Butler scored 22 points, Zoie Bamm finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, Dharyauna Pierce finished with 13 points and five assists, and Trinity Brown added 11 points. Jackson College is 4-0 in conference play and host Schoolcraft College Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. 

Men’s Basketball

Mott CC 86, Jackson College 80: Jackson College led by three points at halftime but gave up 47 points in the second half of action falling to 9-9 on the season. Four players scored in double digits for JC with Antonio King scoring 17, Xavier Ford-Belton finishing with 16 points, Brayden Pearson had 13 points, and Jo Coleman added 12 points. The Jets are now 1-3 in conference play and will host Schoolcraft Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
