Concord 62, Reading 16: Concord High School jumped out to a 24-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in the Big Eight Conference battle. Mekhi Wingfield scored 17 of his game-high 31 points in the first quarter. Jett Smith scored 13 points and Connor Stevens added seven points for Concord (6-3 overall, 3-0 Big 8).
Jackson 61, Dexter 54: Jackson High School senior Darrion Weller was named as the JTV Player of the Game on the live broadcast Thursday night. He finished with 16 points – 10 in the third period. Sherquan Wilson led all Jackson scorers with 18 points in the contest. Jackson got off to a fast start but failed to score a field goal in the second quarter. The Vikings are now 7-1 on the season.
Lumen Christi 78, Divine Child 43: The Titans earned a home conference win Thursday against Divine Child. Kasen Burgess scored 17 points to pace Lumen Christi.
Springport 71, Maple Valley 64 (OT): The Spartans are now 7-2 overall with the overtime win. Springport has won seven-of-eight games since losing to Leslie to open the season.
Western 47, Sturgis 38: Maverick Hammond scored 15 points and David VanRiper added seven points for Western as the Panthers won the consolation matchup in the Western Holiday Basketball Tournament at home Thursday.
Girls Basketball
Battle Creek Lakeview 38, Jackson 31: The Vikings lost in the Western Holiday Hoops Tournament in the consolation final. Kialye Harrell scored 11 points and Jayla Estelle added eight points for Jackson.
Detroit Edison 48, Western 45 (OT): Bayli Stewart scored 21 points for Western in the Western Holiday Hoops Classic Tournament championship game at home Thursday. Edison claimed the tournament title with the road win. Aubree Allen scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds for Western.
