Jackson 78, Concord 59: The Vikings earned a win at Albion College for the Mike Turner Hoops Classic Saturday. Jackson had balanced scoring with Robert Beauchamp scoring 13 points, and Tavion Tanner, Savonn Campbell, and Terrell White scoring 12 points apiece the Vikings. Mekhi Wingfield of Concord led all scorers with 25 points and Anthony Evans added 14 points for the Yellow Jackets.
Jackson Prep 53, Will Carleton 46: Jackson Prep earned a home win over Will Carleton Academy on Saturday.
Wrestling
Concord at St. Louis Invitational: Collin Thompson of Concord High School was third at 138 pounds.
East Jackson at Fruitport Invitational: Clayton Clark of East Jackson was third at the 157-pound weight class. Stephen Hertzfeld finished fifth for the Trojans at 113 pounds.
Jackson at Homer Invitational: The Vikings defeated Montabella, Centreville, and Galesburg-Augusta finishing 3-2 on the day in the team tournament.
Grand Haven Girls Invitational: Sienna Tovar took third place at 140 pounds for Jackson and Kyla Welch finished fourth at 170 pounds for the Vikings earning medals.
Grass Lake at Clinton Invitational: Jack Reid finished second for Grass Lake at 190 pounds and Wesley Edie also finished second for the Warriors at 120 pounds.
Michigan Center at Marshall Invitational: The Cardinals went 2-3 on the day during the Joe Wheeler Team Tournament in Marshall. Michigan Center defeated Haslett and Lansing Everett. Chase Short went 5-0 and Carter Mikolajczyk, Ashton Bristow, and Blake Short were all 4-1 on the day for MCHS.
Napoleon at Bedford Invitational: Bart Laretz finished first for the Pirates at 190 pounds and Dallas Smith was second at 215 pounds for Napoleon. Brenden Yob was also second for the Pirates at 120 pounds.
Northwest at Detroit Catholic Invitational: Adam Haselius won the title at 190 pounds for Northwest. Braden Gariety finished fourth for the Mounties at 157 pounds.
Springport at Hillsdale Invitational: The Spartans defeated Hillsdale and lost to Brandywine in the only two matches reported on www.trackwrestling.com. Springport defeated Hillsdale 57-21, but lost to Brandywine, 43-27. David Becker had a pair of pins at 126 pounds for the Spartans.
Competitive cheer
Leslie Invitational: Concord High School finished fourth (625) in the lower division competition. Napoleon finished fifth (604), Columbia Central was sixth (603), and East Jackson placed ninth (409). Western finished fourth in the upper division teams with a three-round total of 546.
Michigan Center at Madison Invitational: The Cardinals finished second with a score of 647.
Hockey
Lumen Christi 2, Jackson United 1: The Titans scored a pair of power-play goals in the second quarter to take the lead. Goals were scored by Daniel Brady and Luke Sexton. Josh Dumont finished with two assists and goalie Zach Jaakkola finished with 19 saves. Jackson United scored in the first period on a goal by Cougar Fagan. JU goalie Nick Nau stopped 22-of-24 shots in the contest.
Gymnastics
JAG at Rockford Invitational: Jackson Area Gymnastics finished second to the host school 143.35-141.45. Alyssa Budd won the floor exercise with a 9.5 and finished third in the all-around (35.925). Jenna Bradley finished second on the beam (9.05) and fourth in the all-around (35.525).
