Baseball districts

Division 4 District at Concord

Concord 10, Vandercook Lake 0: Levi Raymond recorded the shutout in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 district semifinal at home on Friday. Raymond struck out eight batters for the win. Anthony Evans was the big hitter for the Yellow Jackets with three hits and five RBIs. Vandercook Lake finished with four hits in the game. The Jayhawks finished the season with an 0-14 record.

Whitmore Lake 4, East Jackson 1: Caleb Weaver had one hit and knocked in the only run for East Jackson. The Trojans finished the season with a 7-16 record.

District final: Whitmore Lake 9, Concord 4: The consecutive district winning streak of 10 came to a halt for Concord in the home district final loss. Whitmore Lake scored seven times in the fifth inning to break open a 2-1 game. Logan Lamb had a big game for Concord with four hits and an RBI. Concord finishes the season with a 15-20 record.

Softball districts

Division 4 at Addison

Concord 12, East Jackson 4: Emily Uttenhove hit a home run and Aubree Bell and Addison Hendricks had two hits apiece for East Jackson. The Trojans finished the season with a 15-22 overall record. Karlee Gamet finished with three hits and Jayden Householder knocked in three runs for Concord.

Addison 17, Vandercook Lake 1: Addison scored 11 times in the first inning against the Jayhawks. Shelby Moore finished with one hit and an RBI for Vandercook Lake.

District final: Addison 18, Concord 8: Addison will advance to the regional at Dansville with a matchup next Saturday against Reading expected to begin at noon. Jayden Householder had two hits and two RBIs for Concord (8-24) in the district final.

Western 2, Mason 1: Hailey Whisman went over the 300 mark for strikeouts in a season with 16 in the game. Whisman had a hit and knocked in one run for the Panthers. She currently has 315 strikeouts on the mound, breaking the old school record of 311. Abby Nieswender had a hit and RBI for Western in the win.

Western 12, Mason 1: Ashley Sturgill hit a home run and finished with three hits. Abby Nieswender also had three hits and Hailey Whisman finished with two hits and three RBIs for Western (26-6).

Girls tennis finals

D3 Western at Midland Tennis Center: Western High School scored five points in the opening day of play at the MHSAA Division 3 state tennis finals. Teagan Robertson and Alena Engle advanced to the No. 3 doubles quarterfinals for the Panthers.

D4 Columbia Central, Lumen Christi at U of M Tennis Center: Lumen Christi has 14 points – good for fourth place – after day one in the Division 4 state meet in Ann Arbor. Michaela Hauer of Lumen Christi advanced to the No. 3 singles semifinals with a pair of wins. Genevieve Brawner also advanced to the semifinals in her No. 4 singles competition with two wins for the Titans. Olivia Eaker of Lumen Christi advanced to the quarterfinal round at No. 2 singles, but the results of her match have yet to be posted as of 8 p.m. on Friday. Alana Knoebel of Columbia Central won a match at No. 2 singles for the Golden Eagles’ only point of the day.
