Baseball

Stockbridge 10, Grass Lake 7: Brock Harms recorded three hits and Matt Gould knocked in three runs for the Warriors in the loss. 

Grass Lake 8, Stockbridge 5: Brayden Lape had two hits and knocked in four runs for Grass Lake (11-8). 

Hanover-Horton 7, Napoleon 5: The Comets scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to pull out the win. Luke Soper had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Comets. Grant Bradley had two hits and knocked in one run for the Pirates. 

Marshall 13, Concord 2: Tyler Carpenter and Levi Raymond had two hits apiece in the loss for Concord. 

Marshall 5, Concord 1: The Yellow Jackets could only muster one hit in the loss. 

Softball

Napoleon 7, Hanover-Horton 2: Napoleon scored five times in the fifth inning to pull out the win. Elisse Omey had two hits and knocked in one run for Napoleon (21-3). Kenna Easter had two of the Comets’ four hits in the contest. Hanover-Horton is now 11-14 on the season. 

Napoleon 8, Hanover-Horton 2: Elisse Omey had four hits and Raye Burke struck out five batters on the mound for Napoleon. Kenna Easter and Halle Swihart had two hits apiece for the Comets. 

Summerfield 13, Lumen Christi 6: Allison O’Dowd and Riley Okoniewski had two hits and one RBI each in the contest for the Titans. 

Summerfield 13, Lumen Christi 0: Ava Cumberworth had the only hit for the Titans. 

Michigan Center 6, Manchester 3: Eli Noll hit a home run and knocked in four runs for the Cardinals in the win. Riley Brown earned the win on the mound for the Cardinals. 

Manchester 10, Michigan Center 6: Hannah McKee, Kennedy Kelley, and Mady Whipple each had two hits for Michigan Center (6-14). 

Northwest at Leslie: Nevaeh Ingram shut down Leslie, striking out 16 batters and allowing only one run. Ava Golightly, Grace Pilaczynski, and Cora Pilaczynski each had multiple hits for the Mounties (25-1). The Mounties are ranked No. 1 in the latest Division 2 softball state poll. 

Al Glick Softball Classic

Reading 10, Jackson 0: Kaitlyn Proevski recorded the only hit and Felicia Huffman struck out six batters on the mound for the Vikings. 

Bronson 15, Vandercook Lake 0: Shelby Moore had two of the six hits for the Jayhawks. 

Western 6, Springport 0: Hailey Whisman struck out 17 batters and only gave up one hit in the win for Western (17-4). Riley Kubiak had two hits and knocked in one run for the Panthers. Brenna Crittenden had the only hit for Springport (12-9). 

Boys track and field

Dome Classic Invitational at East Jackson: Napoleon High School finished second (85) to Olivet (112 points) at East Jackson High School on Friday. Grass Lake placed third (79), Columbia Central tied for sixth (49), Michigan Center finished ninth (30), Vandercook Lake was 12th (14), and East Jackson finished right behind the Jayhawks (11). Andrew Stockton of Grass Lake won the 200-meter dash (23.13), Michael VanRiper of Michigan Center took first in the 400-meter dash (53.72), Jacob Walker of Columbia Central won the 1,600-meter run (4:25) and the 3,200-meter run (9:59), Holden Van Poppel of Napoleon won the 110-meter hurdles (15.34), Grass Lake won the 800-meter relay (1:33.9) with a team of Robert Anderson, Gus Vitale, Jack Easterday, and Stockton, and DeVonta Habern of Napoleon won the long jump (19-11.25). 

Jackson at Chelsea: Jackson High School finished fourth in the SEC White Division championship at Chelsea. Jackson won the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:31.43 ran by Nathaniel Hobbs, Jarrell Harrell, Micah Conner, and Ahmad Ameen. The same team won the 1,600-meter relay in 3:27.8. 

Girls track and field

Dome Classic Invitational at East Jackson: East Jackson finished fourth with 58 points and Napoleon was fifth scoring 56 points at EJHS on Friday night. Grass Lake finished sixth (49.5), Columbia Central was 10th (26), Michigan Center placed 14th (12) and Springport finished 15th (8). Lexus Bargesser of Grass Lake won the 400-meter dash (1:01), Brynn Mericle of East Jackson won first place in the 100-meter hurdles (17.13), Grass Lake won the 3,200-meter relay (10:27) with Madison Basham, Grace Bullock, Maddie Jenks, and Ava Viegelahn, Emme Van Poppel of Napoleon took first place in the shot put (34-11), and Elly Trefry of Michigan Center won the pole vault (10-7). 

Jackson at Chelsea: The Vikings also finished fourth in the girls’ SEC championship at Chelsea. Keiyera Johnson won the championship in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.61 seconds. Johnson also finished third in the 100-meter high hurdles (17.09) for the Vikings. Elizabeth Clouse was second in the shot put (29-10) and third in the discus (80-4) for Jackson. 

Girls soccer

Columbia Central 8, Hillsdale 0: Mia Taylor and Macie Mullins each scored two goals for the Golden Eagles. Lili Johnson, Claire Shong, Alyssa Stewart, and Meadow LaTour scored goals for CCHS. Bella Huston and Kyria Ngakanov earned the shutout in goal for Columbia Central (8-3-2). 

Jackson 4, Adrian 0: Sydney Langley scored two goals and Alaina Martindale and Rylie Dubois added scores for Jackson (7-4-1). Delaney Jones earned the shutout in goal for the Vikings. 

Northwest 4, Pennfield 0: The Mounties have won three of its last five contests, improving to 4-8-1. 

Harper Creek 3, Western 1: The Panthers are 6-8-2 on the season following the road loss.

Boys golf

Onsted Invitational: Lumen Christi won the event at Devils Lake Golf Course with a 330 total to edge Whitmore Lake by two strokes. Nash Hanchett shot a 78, Charlie Saunders finished with an 83, Brendan Stevens carded an 84, and Adam Fuller shot an 85 for the Titans. 

Jackson at St. Johns Invitational: Jackson High School finished 10th at the Redwing Invitational on Friday. Colin Norton shot a 79, Anthony Kulka finished with a 90, William Fex carded a 92, and Andrew Covalle shot 95 for the Vikings. Norton finished sixth individually at the tournament. 

Girls tennis

Western 4, Lumen Christi 4: With the tie, Western wins the Interstate-8 Conference regular season with a 6-0-1. The Titans had five wins and two ties. This is the second consecutive regular season I-8 title for the Panthers.
