Baseball

Sand Creek 6, Columbia Central 5: The Golden Eagles scored twice in the seventh inning to take the lead, but Sand Creek scored three times to pull out the win. Nick Wilding and Chase Dukate each had a pair of hits and an RBI for CCHS. 

Jackson 18, Ypsilanti 5: Steven Devaughn had four hits and an RBI to lead Jackson. The Vikings finished with 15 hits in the five run game. 

Cascades Conference Tournament

Grass Lake 15, Vandercook Lake 0: Luke Guthrie hit a home run and knocked in three runs for the Warriors. Grass Lake advances to the Cascades Conference semifinal against Napoleon Wednesday. 

Napoleon 3, Michigan Center 1: Grant Bradley struck out 14 batters and had a no-hitter through 6-plus innings for Napoleon. 

Manchester 8, East Jackson 1: Caleb Weaver had the only hit and RBI for East Jackson. 

Hanover-Horton 4, Addison 1: Jack Wooster knocked in two runs for the Comets to advance to the Cascades Conference semifinals. Hanover-Horton will face Manchester on Wednesday. 

Softball

Michigan Center 18, Vandercook Lake 3: The Cardinals scored 18 runs on only four hits in the contest. Mackenzie Fredrickson and Kylie McKee each finished with one hit and a pair of RBIs in the win. 

Michigan Center 16, Vandercook Lake 1: Kylie McKee hit a home run and knocked in two runs and Hannah McKee finished with four RBIs for the Cardinals. Alivia Smith had a pair of hits for the Jayhawks. 

Columbia Central 10, Sand Creek 2: Bri Boone finished with four hits and Gianna Evans tallied three hits for CCHS. 

Sand Creek 8, Columbia Central 7: The Golden Eagles scored three times in the seventh inning but could not complete the comeback. Rylee Knapp finished with three hits and Bri Boone had two hits and knocked in two runs for CCHS. 

Napoleon 12, Stockbridge 2: Hayden Rendall finished with four hits and Raye Burke finished with both pitching wins and 18 strikeouts for Napoleon. 

Napoleon 11, Stockbridge 1: Napoleon scored six runs in the fifth inning to pull out the win. Karson Fairbanks tallied three hits and knocked in three runs and Camryn Smilowski finished with a pair of hits and three RBIs for Napoleon. 

Northwest 2, Leslie 1: Lucy Bivens earned the pitching win for NWHS with six strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Ava Golightly finished with a pair of hits for Northwest. 

Leslie 4, Northwest 3: Ava Golightly finished with two of the Mounties’ five hits in the game. 

Girls track and field

Napoleon 79, East Jackson 39: Alexa Burgess won the 100-meter dash (13.47), the 400-meter dash (1:07), and the long jump (15-9) for Napoleon. Addisyn Rudd won the pole vault (9-0) and the 200-meter dash (29.61) for East Jackson. 

Grass Lake Quad Meet: It may have taken a John Madden telestrator to figure this one out. Grass Lake hosted Vandercook Lake and Manchester in a tri-meet and Addison competed in a makeup match. Manchester def. Vandercook Lake 87-17, Grass Lake def. Vandercook Lake 109-6, Addison def. VCL 94-12, Grass Lake def. Manchester 102-22, Addison def. Manchester 86-37, and Grass Lake def. Addison 74-53.  Mya Viegelahn of Grass Lake won the 300-meter hurdles (52.0) and high jump (4-10). Dylana Whalen of VCL won the pole vault at 8-0. 

Coldwater, Northwest at Western: The Panthers defeated Northwest (137-24) and Coldwater (102-55), and Coldwater defeated Northwest (114-30). Natalie Coleman won the 200-meter dash (27.84), the 400-meter dash (1:04), and pole vault (9-0) for Western. Chloe Khon of Northwest won the 3,200-meter run in 12:17. 

Boys track and field

Napoleon 106, East Jackson 21: Holden Van Poppel won the 100-meter dash (11.10) and the 200-meter dash (22.70) and Gavrik Belcourt won the 110-meter hurdles (17.08) and 300-meter hurdles (45.76) for Napoleon. Michael Allen won the 3,200-meter run for East Jackson (10:07). 

Grass Lake Quad Meet: Manchester def. Vandercook Lake 106-25, Grass Lake beat VCL 120-17, Addison edged the Jayhawks 54-51, Grass Lake def. Manchester 91.33 – 45.67, Manchester def. Addison 98-28, and Grass Lake def. Addison 106-29. Andrew Stockton of Grass Lake won the 100 (11.6) and 200-meter dash (23.5), and Armani Spaulding of VCL won the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.1 seconds. 

Coldwater, Northwest at Western: Western High School easily won against Northwest (145.33 – 16.67) and Coldwater (125 – 37) and Coldwater defeated Northwest 112.5 – 44.5. Joshua Veneziano won the high jump (6-2) and the 300-meter hurdles (40.95), and Mitchell Williams took first place in the 100 (11.11) and 200-meter dash (23.13).

Girls soccer

Columbia Central 2, Quincy 1: Alyssa Stewart and Allie Choate scored goals for the Golden Eagles. Choate scored with 1:34 remaining in the game on a pass from Jaden Bates. 

Michigan Center 8, Jonesville 2:  Cecelia Scaife had three goals and an assist and Lydia Meyer scored two goals and recorded an assist for Michigan Center.

Springport 9, Grass Lake 1

Jackson 7, Ypsilanti Community 2

Boys golf

Big Eight at Union City: Springport High School finished fifth with 249. Stone Overweg shot 53 and Eli Dyer finished with 55 for the Spartans. Concord failed to post a team score, but Connor Stevens finished 21st individually with a 53 and Lleyton Bauman shot a 55. 

Jackson Christian at Hillsdale Academy: The Royals finished tied for fifth with 207 at the Hills of Baw Beese Lake in Hillsdale. Nate Locke finished with a 50 and Christian Guerrero shot a 51 for Jackson Christian. 

Girls tennis

Columbia Central 4, Jackson 4 

Northwest 7, Tecumseh 1: The Mounties swept the doubles’ matches with wins by Kayli Shackelford/Maddy McPherson at No. 1 doubles; Emily Zielinski/Jordynn Elayaan won at No. 2 doubles in three sets; Dusti Morris/Addison Surbrook won for the Mounties at No. 3 doubles; and Melia Piloski/Ally Thrun won at No. 4 doubles. 

Western 6, Grosse Ile 2: The two squads split singles and Western swept the doubles matches. Wins were earned by Teagan Robertson/Alena Engle at No. 1 doubles; Emma Reed/Gabi Davis won 6-4, 6-3 and No. 2 doubles; Anna Wilcox/Becca Brushaber won at No. 3 doubles; and Leslie Kinder/Salena Vo took the match at No. 4 doubles for Western. 

Chelsea 7, Western 1: Kiiona Carmody won the only match for the Panthers at No. 4 singles. 

DeWitt 4, Lumen Christi 4: Maggie Page, Michaela Hauer, and Genevieve Brawner won singles matches for the Titans.
