Baseball

Ida 4, Columbia Central 3: Ethan Stewart and Nolan Slatt combined for a four-hitter for CCHS in the loss. 

Ida 8, Columbia Central 4: Ida scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Cameron Adams and Ethan Stewart each had doubles for CCHS. 

Homer 9, Concord 1: Levi Raymond had one hit and knocked in the only run for Concord. 

Concord 9, Homer 9: The game was tied midway through the sixth inning when it was called due to darkness. Levi Raymond, Tyler Carpenter, and Isaac Waldron each had two hits in the contest for Concord. 

Lumen Christi 3, Marshall 1: Garrett Swan had a pair of hits and knocked in a run for the Titans. 

Marshall 11, Lumen Christi 3:  Max McCluskey had two hits and knocked in two RBIs for Lumen Christi (15-7-2). 

Northwest 2, Coldwater 1: Trey Collard delivered the winning RBI for Northwest in the bottom of the sixth inning. Gage Race earned the pitching win scattering three hits and striking out four batters in seven innings pitched. 

Coldwater 7, Northwest 2:  Northwest could only muster two hits – both by Trey Collard – in the loss. The Mounties are 14-6-2 on the season following the split. 

Springport 7, Reading 4: Drew Elder earned the pitching win for the Spartans with eight strikeouts in nearly six innings pitched. Dylan Sanford had three of the Spartans’ four hits in the contest. 

Reading 8, Springport 7: Springport scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie the score, but Reading scored a run in the bottom of the inning to pull out the win. Caleb Kregel and Matt Riehle had three hits apiece for Springport (10-11). 

Western 15, Hastings 12: Dalton Heavy had four hits and knocked in three runs for Western in the Interstate-8 Conference win. 

Western 8, Hastings 2: Cohen Spitzer knocked in half of the Panthers’ runs with two hits. Nolan Wheeler pitched a complete game, earning the win for Western while striking out six batters. 

Softball

Ida 10, Columbia Central 5: Kenadee Tompkins hit a home run and knocked in two runs for the Golden Eagles. 

Ida 14, Columbia Central 9: Caella Fall and Kenadee Tompkins had a pair of hits and knocked in two runs each for CCHS in the loss. 

Grass Lake 4, Napoleon 1: Bree Salts had a hit and knocked in two runs for Grass Lake in the win. Layne Brown earned the win on the mound for the Warriors, striking out five batters. The Pirates only had five hits in the loss. 

Grass Lake 7, Napoleon 5: Olivia Turner hit a home run and knocked in two runs for the Warriors in the win. Katelyn Postuma pitched four innings to earn the win for Grass Lake (23-3-1). Kaylee Smith had four hits for Napoleon in the loss. Grass Lake can wrap up a Cascades Conference title with a win against East Jackson in a doubleheader a week from today. 

East Jackson 15, Whitmore Lake 0: Addison Hendricks hit a home run and knocked in six runs for the Trojans. Savanna Curey earned the shutout with eight strikeouts for the Trojans. 

East Jackson 26, Whitmore Lake 11: Emily Uyttenhove had three hits and knocked in five runs and Savana Stewart added three hits and three RBIs for East Jackson (15-18). 

Marshall 5, Lumen Christi 0: Riley Okoniewski had a pair of hits for the Titans. 

Marshall 15, Lumen Christi 0: Emily Rogers had a double for Lumen Christi.

Northwest 4, Coldwater 0: Nevaeh Ingram pitched a no-hitter, striking out 14 batters in the process. Ava Golightly had four hits for the Mounties.  

Coldwater 3, Northwest 1: Coldwater scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the win. Nevaeh Ingram had two of the Mounties’ four hits in the contest. Northwest is now 26-2 on the season. 

Springport 20, Reading 8: Abby Heisler hit a home run and drove in four runs for Springport in the win. Kelsey Speer had three hits in the contest for Springport. 

Springport 7, Reading 3: Kelsey Speer pitched all seven innings, striking out five batters in the process. Brenna Crittenden had two hits and knocked in three runs for the Spartans (15-9). 

Western 14, Hastings 1: Ashley Sturgill had a big day for the Panthers with a grand slam and six RBIs in the contest. She also earned the pitching win, striking out five batters in five innings pitched. 

Western 15, Hastings 0: Ashley Sturgill had two hits and knocked in three runs and Peyton Budd finished with three hits and two RBIs for Western (18-6). Hailey Whisman threw a perfect three-inning game, striking out all nine Hastings batters. 

Boys track and field

Addison 89, East Jackson 39: Michael Allen won the 1,600-meter run (5:00) and the 3,200-meter run (11:00) and Randy Reddick won the long jump (18-0) and the 400-meter dash (55.59) for East Jackson. 

Sand Creek Invitational: Graham Gumper won the 100-meter dash (11.47) and Roger Melling took first place in the 800-meter run (2:09) for the Comets in the six-team invitational. No scores were reported on the event.  

Girls track and field

Addison 89, East Jackson 42: Priya Mericle won the 1,600-meter run (6:05) and the 3,200-meter run (14:00), Brynn Mericle took first in the 100-meter hurdles (16.27) and the 300-meter hurdles (47.29), Kaitlyn Pilch won the 100-meter dash (13.72) and the long jump (14-4), and Addisyn Rudd took first in the pole vault (8-6) for East Jackson. 

Sand Creek Invitational: Chelsea Russ won the 400-meter dash (1:05), Olivianna Watkins took first place in the 300-meter hurdles (51.74), Carly Cure won the high jump (4-8), and the Comets won the 800-meter relay (1:58) with Alayna Shackelford, Cure, Morgan Kuhl, and Kaytie Warren. 

Girls soccer

Lumen Christi 1, Harper Creek 0: Lumen Christi (6-4-2) defeated Harper Creek for the second consecutive time this season by one goal. 

Marshall 8, Western 0: The Redhawks defeated Western at home in the Interstate-8 Conference tournament. 

Boys golf

Hanover-Horton Invitational: Lumen Christi won the Hanover-Horton Invitational at Arbor Hills with a four-man total of 330. Jackson finished second (347), Hanover-Horton was fourth (350), Napoleon was fifth (355), Western was one stroke behind the Pirates (356), Michigan Center finished ninth (366), and Grass Lake was 12th (417). Jackson sophomore Colin Norton earned medalist honors with a 4-under-par 68. Brody Shannon of Michigan Center and Nash Hanchett of Lumen Christi tied for second with 76s, Brady Applegate of Hanover-Horton and Ben Maino of East Jackson tied for fourth with 80s, Charlie Saunders of Lumen Christi finished sixth with an 81, John DuBois of Napoleon tied for eighth with an 83, and Hoyt Wrona of Hanover-Horton earned 10th place with an 85.

MHSAA D-3 regionals at Three Rivers, 9 a.m. – Battle Creek Harper Creek, Battle Creek Pennfield, Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Edwardsburg, Marshall, Niles, Three Rivers, Vicksburg, and Western. 

MHSAA D-4 regionals at Lumen Christi 9 a.m. – Bronson, Columbia Central, Galesburg-Augusta, Hillsdale, Lumen Christi, Leslie, and Onsted. .
