Grass Lake 11,  Napoleon 1: Grass Lake scored six times in the fifth inning to get past Napoleon in the Cascades Conference semifinal at home Wednesday. Luke Guthrie and Brayden Lape each recorded two hits and three RBIs and Jacob Collins added three hits for the Warriors. Walker McKibbin threw a one-hitter for Grass Lake. The Warriors will host Hanover-Horton on Friday for the conference tournament championship. 

Hanover-Horton 7, Manchester 3: Jack Wooster finished with three hits and two RBIs and Cameron Sherwood added two hits and three RBIs for the Comets. Grass Lake will host Hanover-Horton on Friday for the conference tournament championship. 

Addison 4, East Jackson 2: The Panthers scored four runs in the first three innings against East Jackson in the Cascades Conference baseball tournament. Bryce Fowler finished with one hit and one RBI and Devon Neely added two hits for the Trojans. 

Michigan Center 18, Vandercook Lake 0: The Cardinals scored nine runs in each of the first two innings in the Cascades Conference baseball tournament. Carter McCave threw a three-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts and only one walk. Bodee Adkins and McCave each had two hits and three RBIs in the contest. 

Softball

Ann Arbor Pioneer 20, Jackson 1: Lariyah Lewis knocked in the only run for Jackson with a double. 

Ann Arbor Pioneer 20, Jackson 0: Felicia Huffman recorded two hits for the Vikings in the home loss. 

Girls soccer

Columbia Central 3, Ida 0: Alyssa Stewart scored two goals and Jaden Bates added another for the Golden Eagles (11-2-2 overall, 10-1-1 LCAA). Allie Jarchow recorded the shutout in goal for CCHS. 

Harper  Creek 3, Western 0 

Lumen Christi 5, Coldwater 0: Camy Crandall scored two goals and Brooke Lefere, Codi Ruge, and Kathleen Doane each scored one goal for the Titans. 

Boys golf

LCAA at Ida: Columbia Central placed seventh with a score of 187. Hayden Carter finished with a 42 and Lucas Webster shot 46 to lead the Golden Eagles. 

Cascades Conference at Manchester: Hanover-Horton shot its best nine-hole score of the season (152) in winning the Cascades Conference jamboree at Rustic Glen Golf Course. Grass Lake finished second (183), Michigan Center was third (185), Napoleon placed fourth (187), and East Jackson was seventh (270). The Comets claimed the top four positions as Brady Applegate shot a 36, Hoyt Wrona and Travis Drennan carded 38s, and Ryder Pickering tied with Jack Beck of Grass Lake for fourth with 40s. Jacob Beer of Napoleon shot a 43 and Brody Shannon of Michigan Center, Grant Davis of Napoleon, and John Wallbaum of Hanover-Horton tied for seventh with 44s. 

Interstate-8 Conference Final: The three Jackson County teams finished in the top three positions as Lumen Christi won the event at Cedar Creek Golf Course with 314. Western was second (327) and Northwest was third (329). Hayden Kim of Western earned medalist honors with a 75, Cody Rowe of Northwest and Nash Hanchett of Lumen Christi were second scoring 76s, Lumen Christi teammates Adam Fuller and Charlie Saunders tied for fourth with 79s, Ryan Stevens of Northwest and Josh Baker of Lumen Christi tied for sixth with 80s, and Jack Swihart of Lumen Christi tied for ninth with an 81. Lumen Christi claimed the conference title in the Interstate-8 Conference with 31 points, Western finished second scoring 26, and Northwest placed fourth scoring 21.

Tennis

Division 2 at Mason High School: Northwest High School finished with seven points and Jackson scored 2. Dusti Morris/Addison Surbrook advanced to the No. 3 doubles semifinal for the Mounties. Hailey Rowley also advanced to the semifinals in No. 1 singles. 

Division 3 at Vicksburg: Western High School won the regional title and advanced to the Division 3 state finals with 29 points. Bella Brushaber won the title at No. 1 singles for the Panthers; Ali Carmody won the title at No. 3 singles; Kiiona Carmody was second at No. 4 singles; Alena Engle/Teagan Robertson claimed first place at No 1 doubles; Emma Reed/Gabi Davis won the title at No. 2 doubles; Becca Brushaber/Anna Wilcox continued the first-place sweep at No. 3 doubles; and Salena Vo/Leslie Kinder completed the sweep with the title for Western at No. 4 doubles. The Division 3 state finals will be at U of M and Dexter June 2, 3. 

 

Division 4 at Lumen Christi: Lumen Christi won the regional with 24 points and Columbia Central scored 11 points with both teams advancing to the Division 4 state finals. The Titans swept all eight flights for a perfect score for the day. Maggie Page won the title at No. 1 singles for the Titans; Michaela Hauer of LCCHS defeated Iliana Fowle of Columbia Central in the No. 2 singles final; Genevieve Brawner won the championship at No. 3 singles; Abby Frederick defeated Ashley Yang of Columbia Central in the No. 4 singles final; Lauren Craft/Lily Melnick claimed first place at No. 1 doubles; Ella Melatich/Kate Ganton defeated Savannah Cushman/Tamara Little in the No. 2 doubles final; Lucy Martin/Lexie Thornhill won the No. 3 doubles title; and Libby Reese/Kathleen McClure won the title at No. 4 doubles over Alana Zimmerman/Madonna Chehade of Columbia Central. The Division 4 state final will be at Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University June 2, 3.
