Baseball

Cascades Conference Championship:  Napoleon 3, Michigan Center 2: Jason Negus hit a home run and struck out three batters in relief in the bottom of the seventh inning for Napoleon. Grant Bradley pitched six innings for the Pirates, striking out 10 batters. Jed Falasco struck out eight batters for Michigan Center. The Cardinals earned a share of the Cascades Conference title by finishing second in the tournament and second during the regular season. 

Cascades Consolation:  Manchester 16, East Jackson 6: Logan Stump, Caleb Weaver, and Hayden Wilson each had multiple hits for the Trojans. 

Cascades Third place – Grass Lake 10, Addison 0: Brayden Lape and Antonini Malinowski combined for a five-inning no-hitter. Lape struck out eight batters in four innings pitched. Liam Metheringham had three hits and knocked in three runs for Grass Lake. The Warriors can secure a share of the Cascades Conference title with a win against East Jackson later this week. 

Cascades Seventh place: Hanover-Horton 14, Vandercook Lake 4: The Comets recorded 18 hits in the contest. Camren Lackey hit a home run and knocked in two runs for the Jayhawks. 

Softball

Athens 14, East Jackson 4: Savana Stewart had two hits and two RBIs for East Jackson. 

Athens 13, East Jackson 10: Athens scored three times in the seventh inning to pull out the win. Savana Stewart had two hits and four RBIs and Addison Hendricks finished with two hits and three RBIs for East Jackson. 

Lumen Christi 6, Vandercook 5: Riley Okoniewski, Emily Rogers, and Emma Smiley each had multiple hits for the Titans. Lumen Christi scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Abigail Clark, Shelby Moore, and Alivia Smith had two hits apiece for Vandercook Lake. 

Lumen Christi 12, Vandercook 10: The Titans scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning, then held on as VCL scored four times in the top of the seventh. Riley Okoniewski had three hits and knocked in two runs for Lumen Christi – who collected 17 hits in the contest. Skyler Macomber had a pair of hits and knocked in four runs for Vandercook.

Napoleon 15, Lenawee Christian 0: Raye Burke pitched a perfect game, striking out seven of 12 batters in four innings pitched. Elisse Omey and Kaylee Smith hit home runs for the Pirates. 

Napoleon 15, Lenawee Christian 0: Napoleon scored five runs in each of the first three innings for the win. Karson Fairbanks had two hits and knocked in four runs and Sam Conaway recorded a pair of hits and three RBIs for Napoleon (23-5). 

Northwest 1, Whiteford 0: The Mounties had nine hits, but could only push across one run on a hit by Ava Golightly. Nevaeh Ingram struck out 14 batters and only allowed two hits in the contest for Northwest (29-2).  

Grass Lake 7, Howell 4: Olivia Turner hit a home run and knocked in four runs for Grass Lake in the non-conference win. 

Grass Lake 10, Howell 6: Emily Guthrie recorded two hits and knocked in four runs and Olivia Turner went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs for Grass Lake (29-3). 

Girls soccer

Grass Lake 6, Michigan Center 2: Ella Kraus and Kylin Heidrich scored two goals apiece for Grass Lake. Amanda Griffor and Emma Hubbard also scored for the Warriors. Claire Foster had nine saves in goal for GLHS. Cecelia Scaife scored on goal and Maria Aloisio scored one goal and added an assist for Michigan Center. Nicola Wittkopf had 14 saves in goal for MCHS. 

Jackson Christian 2, Stockbridge 1: The Royals earned its second win of the season. 

Northwest 4, Leslie 0: The Mounties improved to 6-9-1 with the win.

Boys golf

SCAA Championship: Jackson Christian finished fourth with a four-man total of 407. Blaine Spry led Jackson Christian with a 93 – tied for seventh overall individually. 

Jackson Area Invitational: Lumen Christi and Saline tied for first with 329 at Cascades Golf Course. Western finished third (351), Hanover-Horton was seventh (357), Jackson took eighth place (359), Michigan Center placed 10th (376), Grass Lake was 11th (383), Northwest finished 12th (386), and Napoleon finished 14th (396). Charlie Saunders of Lumen Christi tied for third with an 80, Ryder Pickering of Hanover-Horton was fifth scoring 81, Eric Bonser of Western and Nash Hanchett of Lumen Christi tied for sixth with 82s, and Ben Maino of East Jackson tied for eighth with an 83. 

Girls tennis

I-8 Championships: Lumen Christi won the Interstate-8 Conference tournament in Battle Creek on Monday. Western finished second and Northwest tied for seventh place. Western finished the season as the overall champions as they won all four flights in doubles with Kenzie Hiler/Maria Macchia winning a conference title at No. 1 doubles; Emma Reed/Bella Brushaber won the title at No. 2 doubles; Alena Engle/Teagan Robertson won the championship at No. 3 doubles; and Gabi Davis/Dru Porter took first at No. 4 doubles. Renee Marston and Maddie Miles finished second at Nos. 2 and 3 singles respectively.
