Baseball

Columbia Central 2, Ida 1: Three pitchers – Chase Dukate, Ryan Hammond, and Conor Rentfrow – combined for a three-hitter for CCHS. Dukate finished with a pair of hits for the Golden Eagles. 

Columbia Central 7, Ida 5: Columbia Central scored four runs in the sixth inning to earn the come-from-behind win. Chase Dukate finished with two hits and two RBIs for CCHS. 

Concord 13, Reading 3: Abe Reiniche tallied three RBIs and Jordan Medellin collected a pair of hits and two RBIs for Concord.

Concord 18, Reading 3: The Yellow Jackets scored a dozen runs in the seventh inning to break open a close game. Levi Raymond finished with four RBIs and Lewis Fritz finished with two hits and three RBIs for Concord.  

Jackson 19, Lansing Sexton 4: Cooper Alger finished with four hits and Kaspar Haehnle knocked in three runs for Jackson in the win. 

Jackson 23, Lansing Sexton 1:  Steven Devaughn and Hayden Best combined for a one-hitter for the Vikings. Conner Bush finished with three hits and four RBIs and Devaughn collected three hits and three RBIs for Jackson. 

Lumen Christi 5, Coldwater 2: Gabe King had three hits and earned the pitching win for the Titans. Lumen Christi won the Interstate-8 Conference title. 

Lumen Christi 14, Coldwater 11: Colin Wilson finished with three hits for the Titans. 

Harper Creek 9, Western 1: Western could only muster two hits in the loss to Harper Creek. 

Western 7, Harper Creek 1: Troy Gilpin earned the win with a complete game for the Panthers. Jack LaPorte finished with three hits for WHS. 

Manchester 5, Michigan Center 3: Miles Stewart finished with a pair of hits for the Cardinals.

Softball

Columbia Central 11, Ida 10: Ava Lyke of CCHS finished with four hits including the game winner in the bottom of the seventh inning for a walk-off win. Bri Boone hit a home run and finished with three hits in the contest. 

Columbia Central 24, Ida 14: The scoreboard operator may have worked up a sweat in this one as the teams combined for 38 runs. Brooke-Lynn Hills finished with five RBIs and Gianna Evans tallied four hits and three RBIs for the Golden Eagles. 

Reading 17, Concord 2: Reading High School scored 10 runs in the third inning to break open a 2-1 contest. 

Concord 10, Reading 3: Cieara Barrett finished with three hits and three RBIs and Rylie Adams collected three hits and two RBIs for Concord. 

Coldwater 10, Lumen Christi 0: Codi Ruge and Kadence Hinkley each had a pair of hits for Lumen Christi. 

Coldwater 15, Lumen Christi 0: The Titans were limited to one hit in the contest. Coldwater claimed the I-8 title with the victory. 

Northwest 21, Pennfield 2: Lucy Bivens had a big night for the Mounties with four hits and five RBIs in the win. Izzy Rogers finished with three hits and three RBIs for NWHS. 

Northwest 22, Pennfield 0: The Mounties finished with 20 hits in the game as Lucy Bivens tallied four hits and knocked in five runs for NWHS. Bivens held Pennfield to one hit and struck out six batters on the mound. 

Western 6, Harper Creek 0: Hailey Whisman threw a no-hitter and struck out 12 batters on senior night for the Panthers. Abby Nieswender finished with four hits and Nicole Wilson added three hits for Western (11-3 I-8). 

Western 4, Harper Creek 0: Western High School pitcher Hailey Whisman earned the pitching win with 12 strikeouts on the mound. She also knocked in a pair of runs with a sacrifice fly.

Girls track and Field

LCAA at Hillsdale: Columbia Central High School finished sixth with 70 points in the LCAA final at Hillsdale High School. Melyssa McJennett won the 100-meter hurdles (17.25), and Zoie Bamm won the discus (102-6) for CCHS. 

Cascades Conference Final: Grass Lake High School edged Hanover-Horton 153-149 to win the Cascades Conference final at East Jackson High School Tuesday. Napoleon finished third (102.5), East Jackson finished sixth (51), Michigan Center placed seventh (26), and Vandercook Lake was eighth (3).  Sophia Reynolds of Hanover-Horton won the 800-meter run (2:28) and the 400-meter dash (59.79).  

Interstate-8 Conference Final: Western High School finished fourth (76 points), Lumen Christi was fifth (66), and Northwest placed seventh (29) in the Interstate-8 Conference Final at Albion College. Madison Osterberg won the 800-meter run (2:13) and the 1,600-meter run (4:56) and joined teammates Sydney Fazekas, Layla Lopez, and Macy Fazekas to win the 3,200-meter relay (9:58). Chloe Khon of Northwest won the 3,200-meter run (12:08). 

Boys track and Field

LCAA at Hillsdale: Columbia Central High School finished third with 87 points at the Lenawee County Athletic Association finals at Hillsdale Tuesday.  Columbia Central won the 3,200-meter relay (8:44) with Jack Gorton, Ty Farmer, Owen Lambarth, and Wyatt Vowell. 

Cascades Conference at East Jackson: Napoleon High School outdistanced Hanover-Horton 199-150.5 in the Cascades Conference final at East Jackson. Grass Lake finished fourth (67), Michigan Center placed fifth (62.5), East Jackson was sixth (55), and Vandercook Lake finished eighth (6). Holden Van Poppel of Napoleon High School won three individual events taking first place in the 110-meter hurdles (14.77, new conference record), the 300-meter hurdles (43.27), and the long jump (20-9). Rogan Melling of Hanover-Horton dominated the distance races finishing first in the 800-meter run (2:04), the 1,600-meter run (4:44), and the 3,200-meter run (9:57). 

Interstate-8 Conference Final: Western High School claimed the Interstate-8 Conference title with 141 points on Tuesday at Albion College. Lumen Christi finished fifth (39) and Northwest was seventh (6) in the conference final. The Panthers won three-of-five field events with Owen Fremeau winning the discus (149-6), Josh Veneziano took first in the high jump (6-2), and Caleb Rudd-Jones winning the long jump 20-0.5. Alex Pastoriza of Lumen Christi won the 100-meter dash (11.27) and the 200-meter dash (22.89). 

Girls Soccer

Western 4, Grass Lake 0: Nevaeh Hartshorn scored two goals and had another just miss off the crossbar for Western.  Meadow Pratt and Emma Hackworth shared the goalkeeping duties and preserved the shutout.

Boys Golf

LCAA Championship: Columbia Central High School finished eighth in the 18-hole event with 379 at Woodlawn Golf Course. CCHS was led by Lucas Webster with a 93 and Noah Moore scoring a 94. 

Big Eight Conference Final at Concord: Jonesville won the 18-hole event at Whiffletree Golf Course in Concord scoring 351. Neither Concord nor Springport had four players for a team score. Individually Maximilian Argumedo finished 19th overall at 106 for Springport and Lleyton Bauman of Concord placed 23rd with 116. 

Vandercook Lake Jamboree: Hanover-Horton High School won the event at Sharp Park Golf Course with a four-man total of 162. Michigan Center finished second (186), Napoleon was third (189), Grass Lake placed fourth (196), Manchester scored 219, Addison posted a 220, and East Jackson was seventh (248). The Comets had the top four scores as Ryder Pickering scored 39, Hoyt Wrona and Brady Applegate shot 40s, and Travis Drennan finished with a 43. Keegan Gronski led Michigan Center with a 44 and Nolan Metheringham of Grass Lake, John Wallbaum of Hanover-Horton, and Grant Davis of Napoleon tied for sixth scoring 45s.
