Baseball

Lumen Christi 6, Napoleon 1: Cooper Cumberworth and Connor Dancer each had two hits and two RBIs for Lumen Christi. Gabe King pitched a complete game for the Titans, striking out eight batters. Hartley Marvin had a hit and knocked in the only run for Napoleon. The Titans move on to face Leslie at home in the Division 3 district semifinal on Saturday at 10 a.m. 


Michigan Center 9, Concord 8: Brendan O’Dowd had two hits and knocked in three runs and Dawson Swetland had three hits and knocked in two RBIs for Michigan Center. Concord was led by Levi Raymond with two hits and three RBIs. The Yellow Jackets scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to tie the score, but gave up a run in the bottom of the inning. 

Madison 5, Grass Lake 4: Avin Sandoval and Brayden Lape each had two hits for Grass Lake in the game at Adrian College. 

Springport 1, Waldron 0: Dylan Sanford and Matt Riehle combined for a three-hitter on the mound for the Spartans. 

Springport 16, Waldron 3: The Spartans finished with 14 hits in the contest including three by Matt Riehle. 

Jackson 15, Vandercook Lake 0: Michael Kirby had four hits – including a home run – and knocked in four runs for the Vikings. 

Softball

Springport 17,  Vermontville 0: The Spartans advance to the district semifinal on Saturday against Saranac at noon. Springport scored 17 runs on only three hits in the district opener. 

Napoleon 3, Hanover-Horton 2: The Pirates won the game in the eighth inning on a walk-off single by Kaylee Smith. The Pirates advance to the district semifinal at home on Saturday against Michigan Center beginning at 10 a.m. Raye Burke struck out seven batters for Napoleon in the win. Dani Riggs finished with three hits and Alexyn DuBois struck out eight batters on the mound for Hanover-Horton. 

Hudson 6, Columbia Central 4: The Tigers scored twice in the seventh inning to pull out the win in the district opener. Gracie Keller had two hits and Ava Lyke knocked in a pair of runs for CCHS (15-17).  

Concord 18, Litchfield 2: The Yellow Jackets advance in the Division 4 district tournament with the win. They will face East Jackson on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Addison High School. 

Quincy 20, Michigan Center 2: Kylie McKee had the only hit in the contest for MCHS. 

Michigan Center 9, Quincy 8: Mackenzie Fredrickson had three hits for the Cardinals in the win. 

Boys track and field

Selby Meet: Graham Gumper of Hanover-Horton won the 100-meter dash (11.36); Nathaniel Hobbs of Jackson took first in the 200-meter dash (23.07); Ahmad Ameen of Jackson won the 400-meter dash (50.36); Jonathan Mikovits of Concord won the 800-meter run (2:00); Matt Rankin of Grass Lake took first in the 1,600-meter run (4:37); Hanover-Horton’s Rogan Melling won the 3,200-meter run (9:42); Holden Van Poppel took first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.0); Lincoln Raczkowski of Western won the 300-meter hurdles (40.66); Jackson won the 400-meter relay (45.45), the 800-meter relay (1:30.61), and the 1,600-meter relay (3:30); Manchester won the 4×800;; Brennan Faber took first for Western in the shot put 43-7.5; Mekhi Wingfield won the high jump for Concord (6-2); Lucas Inosencio of Western took first in the pole vault (11-6); and DeVonta Habern won the long jump (20-4) for Napoleon. 

Girls track and field

Selby Meet: Kaitlyn Pilch won the 100-meter dash for East Jackson (13.17); Lexus Bargesser of Grass Lake won the 200-meter dash (26.83); Kayla Johnson of Jackson won the 400-meter dash (1:01); Madison Osterberg of Lumen Christi won the 800-meter run (2:19) and the 1,600-meter run (5:07); Faith Smith of Lumen Christi won the 3,200-meter run (10:44); Brynn Mericle of East Jackson won the 100-meter hurdles (15.99) and the 300-meter hurdles (47.99); Western won the 400-meter relay (50.82), the 800-meter relay (1:46), and the 1,600-meter relay (4:08); Stockbridge won the 4×800 relay; Emme Van Poppel of Napoleon took first in the shot put (35-1.5); Gracee Robidou of Stockbridge won the long jump (15′7.5);   Megan Mackinder of Stockbridge won the discus (103′3); Kayda Herrick of Western won the high jump (5-2); and Addisyn Rudd of East Jackson won the pole vault (9-6). 

;Girls soccer

Springport 8, Michigan Center 0: Ryann Locke scored six goals and Kam Steward and Sky Molica each scored one goal each for the Spartans. Springport advances to the district final on Saturday at Stockbridge High School beginning at 10 a.m. 

Golf

Division 2 regional at Gull Lake View Golf Course: Northwest High School finished ninth (348) and Western was 12th (360) at the regional tournament. Isaac Anuszkiewicz shot a 78 and missed advancing to the state finals by one stroke. Ashton McIntosh shot an 88, and Kamryn Banks and Tyler Richard shot 91s for the Mounties. Western was led by Eli Herrington with an 85, Jake Bradley shot an 87, and Bryar DeNoon and Hayden Kim shot 94s for the Panthers. Gull Lake won the regional with a 314.
