Baseball

Lumen Christi 1, Pennfield 0: Garrett Swan earned the pitching win for the Titans, striking out four batters. Cooper Cumberworth knocked in the only run for Lumen Christi.  

Pennfield 3, Lumen Christi 2: Pennfield scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Max McCluskey knocked in the only two runs for Lumen Christi (9-6-1). 

Concord 7, Quincy 0: The game was stopped in the fourth inning with the Yellow Jackets leading 7-0. 

Quincy 5, Concord 4: The Yellow Jackets only had four hits in Big Eight Conference game. 

Softball

Columbia Central 12, Onsted 4: Kenadee Tompkins had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs for CCHS in the win. Gianna Evans had two hits at the plate and was the winning pitcher for Columbia Central.

Columbia Central 17, Onsted 15: The Golden Eagles scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win. McKenzie Fall had four hits and four RBIs and 

Micaella Fall recorded three hits in the win for CCHS (12-3). 

Pennfield 16, Lumen Christi 6: Allison O’Dowd had two hits and knocked in two runs in the contest. Emily Rogers, Riley Okoniewski, and Kadence Hinkley also had two hits for Lumen Christi. 

Pennfield 6, Lumen Christi 4: The Titans outhit Pennfield 12-3, but lost the Interstate-8 Conference game. Allison O’Dowd had three hits and Riley Okoniewski, Ava Cumberworth, and Olivia Berner finished with two hits apiece for Lumen Christi (6-9-1). 

Western 11, Marshall 10: The Panthers survived a wild seventh inning with a total of 10 runs being scored. Ashley Sturgill and Palmer Fortress each had a pair of hits for the Panthers. 

Western 3, Marshall 2: Hailey Whisman earned the pitching win for the Panthers with 14 strikeouts. Shaunicy Hendricks had two hits and Ashley Sturgill knocked in two runs for Western (14-4).

Girls soccer

Chelsea 7, Jackson 2: The Vikings are now 4-3-1 following the home loss to Chelsea. 

Boys golf

Cascades jamboree at The Grande: Hanover-Horton won its third consecutive Cascades Conference jamboree with a win at The Grande Golf Club on Thursday. The Comets shot 176, Michigan Center shot 188, East Jackson came in third with 194, host school Napoleon finished with a 199, and Grass Lake finished fifth with 209. Brady Applegate of Hanover-Horton shot 39 to earn medalist honors and teammate Ryder Pickering and East Jackson golfer Ben Maino shot 40s. Brody Shannon of Michigan Center and Ben Baker of Napoleon finished fourth with 43s and John DuBois of Napoleon was sixth scoring 44.  

Girls tennis

Columbia Central 3, Monroe St. Mary 3: The match was stopped by rain with two doubles competitions remaining. Iliana Fowle won a three-set match for the Golden Eagles at No. 4 singles, winning 10-5 in the final set. 

Jackson 5, Adrian 3: Eva Curtis, Lauren Jones, and Megan Jones earned singles’ wins for the Vikings at Nos. 2-4. Manroop Bamrah/Julia Hastings won a three-set match at No. 1 doubles winning 10-8 in the third set for the Vikings. Elena Curtis/Brynn Griffith won their match at No. 4 doubles for Jackson.  

Coldwater 5, Northwest 3: The Mounties won three of four doubles’ competitions against Coldwater.  Mackenzie Rowley/Hailey Rowley earned a win at No. 1 doubles; Khrystine Weesner/Maddy McPherson won at No. 3 doubles; and Jade Sayles/Lio Werner won at No. 4 doubles for Northwest (0-6). 

Lumen Christi at Marshall: The match was stopped due to rain. It will resume on May 11 in Marshall.  

Hastings at Western: Rain and Hastings being 45 minutes late for the match delayed the match at Western on senior night.
