Jackson 5, Mid-Michigan Marauders 3: It was a night of “firsts” at Optimist Ice Arena on Friday night for the Jackson United hockey team. Jackson scored its first goals of the season and first win of the season in a 5-3 victory over the Mid-Michigan Marauders. The contest was the opening of the Mid-Michigan Holiday Showcase at Optimist. Mid-Michigan scored five minutes into the contest, but Jackson scored three goals in the next 12 minutes. Goals were scored by Luke Wilcox, Aiden Chappell, and Cully Miotke. Jackson United led 4-2 after two periods on a goal by Riley Rogers. Easton Neitzke scored the final goal for Jackson early in the third quarter. Goalie Nick Nau earned the win for Jackson (1-2). Jackson will face Pinckney or Fenton/Linden on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the tournament final at Optimist.
