Volleyball District Tournaments

Division 2 at District Final 

Western 3, Marshall 2: The Panthers earned a district championship at home Thursday against Interstate-8 Conference foes from Marshall. Western plays in the Division 2 regional tournament at Parchment High School Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against Otsego. Kayda Herrick scored 29 kills and tallied 36 digs to lead Western. Izzy Schlundt scored 11 kills and blocked seven shots, Abby Nieswender dished 48 assists, and Palmer Fortress added 31 digs for Western (38-12).

Division 3 District Final

Hanover-Horton 3, Napoleon 0: The Comets earned the district title with a victory over Napoleon at Concord High School. Hanover-Horton plays in the Lumen Christi Catholic High School regional tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Addison High School. Chelsea Russ finished with 14 kills, Morgan Kuhl added 10 kills, Natalee Krage tallied 32 assists, and Sophie Schuette was 17-for-19 from the service line for the Comets.

Division 3 District Final 

Grass Lake 3, Manchester 0: The Warriors won the district tournament with a sweep over Cascades Conference rivals at Ann Arbor Greenhills. Mia Buttigieg finished with 41 assists and 19 digs, Hanna Alvarez tallied 36 digs, Adrianna Kline finished with 15 kills, Monique Diehl scored 11 kills and Olivia Turner recorded nine kills and 25 digs. Grass Lake plays in the Division 3 regional tournament at Lumen Christi Catholic High School at 5 p.m. Tuesday against the winner of the Blissfield district tournament. 

Division 3 District Final 

Homer 3, Springport 0: Homer will compete in the Division 3 regional tournament at Bronson High School Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against the host school. Springport finishes the season with a 20-21-5 overall record.

Lake Michigan 3, Jackson College 1: The Jets won the first set but fell in the next three in the NJCAA Great Lakes District Tournament. Jackson College is 15-7 following the district loss. . Kate Gorney led Jackson with 11 kills, Kenadee Tompkins dished 30 assists, and Alivia Smith added 21 digs in the contest.

Women’s Basketball

Jackson College 66, Madonna University JV 47: The Jets earned a win in its first game of the season. Jackson hosts Spring Arbor University’s JV team Saturday at 1 p.m.
