Women’s Basketball
Marian 87, Spring Arbor University 86 (OT): The Cougars trailed by double digits in the second half but battled back using an aggressive full-court man-to-man defense. The Cougars took a 77-74 lead with less than 13 seconds remaining, but Ella Collier of Marian stuck a dagger in them with a 3-point basket with three seconds remaining in regulation time. Collier – who finished with 28 points for No. 6 ranked Marian – scored the winning basket in overtime with just under three seconds remaining. SAU was led by Alana Nelson with 29 points and 16 rebounds, Alize Tripp tallied 22 points, and Abby Fleetwood and Alex Long each scored 13 points to lead Spring Arbor (6-2 overall, 1-1 Crossroads League).
Men’s Basketball
Spring Arbor University 68, Marian 65 (OT): The Cougars won an overtime home matinee contest over Marian Tuesday afternoon. SAU outscored Marian 33-21 in the first half but were outscored by 12 in the second half sending the game to overtime. The Cougars outscored Marian 11-8 in the 5 minute overtime. Gabe Newhof scored 30 points and Travis Grayson added 13 points and five assists for Spring Arbor (7-2 overall, 2-0 in Crossroads League).
Jackson College 81, Olivet College Junior Varsity 74: Jackson College improves to 3-2 with the victory. The Jets will travel to Siena Heights University on Nov. 30 to face the junior varsity squad at 7:30 p.m.
