Napoleon 15, Union City 0: Defense ruled the roost at the Big Eight/Cascades Conference Crossover Championship game at Union City. Napoleon scored all 15 of its points in the first half on a 36-yard run by Grant Bradley, a 2-point conversion by Bart Laretz, a 16-yard touchdown pass from Bradley to Trent Jester, and an extra point from Cooper Wyers. Napoleon finishes the season with a 9-0 record. 

Extra points for Friday football

Ty Farmer of Columbia Central High School broke the school record for career tackles against Blissfield in a 31-26 loss. Farmer also finished with five receptions for 138 yards and three scores in the contest. Cody Richardson threw for 245 yards in the loss for CCHS.

Alex Trudell of Western High School was the man against Coldwater in a 35-28 win Friday night. He ran for 181 yards and four touchdowns in the Panthers’ win on the road. Ty Keeler scored the other touchdown for Western (6-3). Landon Heavy finished with six tackles and Caden Oliver and David McAninch recorded intercepts for the Panthers. 

Volleyball

Jackson at SEC Tournament: Jackson High finished fifth in the SEC tournament held at Pinckney.  Janie Putman led the team with 27 kills and 29 digs, Kennedy Lee had 19 kills and five blocks, and Kulayjah Weller had 18 kills, 34 assists, and 37 digs for the Vikings (10-15-3).

Boys cross country

LCAA Meet at Hudson: Columbia Central High School finished sixth as a team with 113 points on Saturday at Hudson High School. Wyatt Vowell of Columbia Central finished 12th (18:09) and Jack Gorton was 18th (18:42) for Columbia Central. 

Interstate-8 Conference Meet: Western High School finished third (71 points), Lumen Christi was fifth (120), and Northwest finished eighth (211) at the Interstate-8 Conference meet at Turkeyville. Cooper Singleton of Western was the highest area finisher with a third-place finish in 16:48. Isaiah Dinverno of Lumen Christi was right behind him (16:48, Edison Lopeman of Western finished 10th (17:07), and Gannon Shore of Lumen Christi placed 13th (17:15). 

Girls cross country

LCAA Meet at Hudson: Columbia Central High School did not post a score but Hope Wilkes of CCHS finished seventh overall in 20:51. 

Interstate-8 Conference Meet: Lumen Christi Catholic High School easily won the conference meet at Turkeyville with a score of 32. Western finished fourth with 96 and Northwest was fifth scoring 133. Area runners dominated the meet taking six of the top 12 places. Madison Osterberg was the overall winner at 18 minutes, 21 seconds, teammate Macy Fazekas was second running 19:47 and Chloe Khon of Northwest placed third in 20:02. Gabrielle Osterberg of Lumen Christi was seventh (21:01), teammate Layla Lopez finished 11th (21:26), and Justice Prins of Western placed 12th (21:27).
