Girls Cross Country Regionals

 Girls Division 2 at DeWitt High School: Western finished seventh with 200 points and Northwest was 12th scoring 310 at DeWitt. Chloe Khon of NWHS is a state qualifier after finished fifth in 19:58. Western was led by Natalie Kuhl who was 24th in 21:47.

Girls Division 3 at Ella Sharp Park: Lumen Christi Catholic High School won the regional team title with 33 points. Hanover-Horton finished second with 75 points to automatically qualify for the Michigan High School Athletic Association state finals. The Titans placed all five runners in the top 10 as Madison Osterberg was second (19:22), Samantha Schroeder finished sixth (20:01), Macy Fazekas was right behind her (20:46), Layla Lopez finished eighth (21:03), and Sydney Fazekas placed 10th (21:10). Hanover-Horton was led by Olivia Perrine who was fourth (19:23), Sophia Reynolds finished 11th (21:23), and Julianna Debozy-Crawford placed 17th (22:21). Lauren McLain of Napoleon also qualified for the D-3 state finals with an 18th-place finish in 22:33.

 Girls Division 4 at Ella Sharp Park: Hillsdale Academy dominated the regional winning with 35 points, Pittsford was second scoring 58, and Addison earned a state-team final appearance for the first time in more than 30 years by taking third place with 61 points. East Jackson runner Priya Mericle qualified for the state meet as an individual with a 16th-place finish in 23:15.

Girls Division 4 at Portage: Concord High School tied Kalamazoo Hackett for the regional team title with 44 points each and won on the sixth-runner tie-breaker. CHS freshman Haley Stimer won the individual title with a time of 20:29 and teammate Cieara Barrett was second with a time of 20:52.

 Boys Cross Country Regionals

Boys Division 2 at DeWitt High School: Western High School edged St. Johns 66-67 to claim the regional title at DeWitt. Northwest finished 10th with 263 points. Edison Lopeman was second overall for Western in 16:21, Ryan Good was 10th in 17:10, and Cooper Singleton placed 11th in 17:12. Northwest was led by Hudson Cooper who finished 18th in 17:53.

 Boys Division 3 at Sharp Park: Jonesville defeated Lumen Christi and Hanover-Horton for the regional title. Jonesville scored 60, the Titans finished with 76, and Hanover-Horton 84 to claim the top three team spots. Isaiah Dinverno was the individual regional champ for Lumen Christi with a time of 16:27. Evan Shepherd of Hanover-Horton was fifth (16:58), Gannon Shore of LCCHS placed seventh (17:13), Landen Boulis of HHHS was 12th (17:31),  Gibson Shore of Lumen Christi finished 13th (17:35), and Napoleon runner Kyler Pequet claimed a state-qualifying spot with a 14th-place finished (17:42).

 Boys Division 4 at Sharp Park: East Jackson High School finished second for its first state team final appearance in 43 years. The Trojans scored 62 points, good for second place in the D4 regional. Jackson Prep & Early College was fifth scoring 99 points. East Jackson was led by Michael Allen who finished fourth (16:59), Javin Mericle was right behind him (17:28), and William Kennedy was eighth (18:04). Dallas Swaenepoel of Vandercook Lake (18:09), Diego BoCole of Jackson Prep (18:37), and Noah Blondke (18:41) of JPEC were also individual state qualifiers in Division 4.

Boys Division 4 at Portage: Concord High School finished fifth as a team with 155 points. Maddux Hutchinson of Concord was a state qualifier with a time of 18:54.   

College Sporting Events

Jackson College at NJCAA Regionals: Jackson College finished 14th in the regional with 318 points. Preston Mackenzie of Jackson College finished 54th in the 8K event in 30:46 and Zach Kubish placed 58th in 30:58.

Men’s Basketball

Cornerstone 78, Spring Arbor 62: Gabe Newhof scored 22 points and dished three assists for Spring Arbor.

Volleyball

Spring Arbor University 3, St. Francis 1: Kelsie Lilly finished with 11 kills to lead Spring Arbor.
