Marshall 3, Western 2: The Panthers lost in five sets at home on Wednesday. Marshall won set five 15-10 giving the Panthers their first loss in the Interstate-8 Conference. Kayda Herrick finished with 16 kills, Hannah Pratt tallied 61 digs, and Brynn Rogers finished with 50 assists for Western (12-2-1 overall, 3-1 I-8).

Lumen Christi 4, Marshall 4:  Nolan Varner won a hard-fought 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win for the Titans at No. 1 singles. Jack Melnick/Anthony Johnstone won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles; Jake King/Broderick Gregery won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles; and Cade Nelson/Brady Lefere won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles for Lumen Christi. 

Girls golf

Jackson County Invitational: Grosse Ile edged Lumen Christi by three strokes 351-354 in the Jackson Golf Invitational at Cascades Golf Course on Wednesday. Western finished third (365), Jackson placed fifth (399), Michigan Center was seventh (403), Hanover-Horton was eighth (427), Columbia Central placed ninth (443), Grass Lake placed 10th (457), Napoleon finished 11th (463), and East Jackson was 12th (477). Kamryn Shannon of Michigan Center shot an even-par 72 to earn medalist honors. Sydnie Redovich of Western was second (76), teammate Brune Savage tied for fifth (82) with Natalie Kulka of Jackson, and Logan Bentley of Columbia Central was seventh (84).
