Concord 34, Toledo Christian 14: The Yellow Jackets scored five touchdowns – all through the air – for a win at Toledo Christian Friday night. Mekhi Wingfield, T.J. Allen (2), Jordan Medellin, and Carter Arbuckle all scored touchdowns for Concord. Collin Thompson recovered two fumbles defensively for the Yellow Jackets. Concord is now 1-1 on the season and will travel to Britton-Deerfield next Friday in 8-Man football action beginning at 7 p.m. 

Addison 62, East Jackson 27: The Panthers improved to 2-0 with a road win at East Jackson Friday. Addison scored on every possession of the first half – except the last one with 14 seconds remaining – taking a 46-13 halftime lead. Touchdowns were scored by Byron Creech (2), Spencer Brown (2), Alex Cubberly, and Michael Trumble in the first half. East Jackson found success through the air with a 33-yard touchdown pass from Austin Tingley to Amarr Hunter and Caleb Weaver.  Tingley finished with 249 passing yards and Weaver tallied three scores for the Trojans. Leslie will travel to Addison on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff while East Jackson (1-1) will travel to Homer on the same time, date.

College Athletic Events

Women’s Cross Country

Spring Arbor at Jeff Drenth Memorial at Mt. Pleasant: Spring Arbor University finished fifth in the women’s event at Mt. Pleasant. Jynessa Larsen finished 56th in 20:38 and Shelby Cade placed 59th with a time of 20:46 in the 5K event. 

Men’s Cross Country

Spring Arbor at Jeff Drenth Memorial at Mt. Pleasant: The Cougars finished fifth as a team at the Mt. Pleasant event. Camden Khon finished 17th overall in 15:36 and Ryan O’Rourke was 19th at 15:37 in the 5K event. Spring Arbor finished behind Michigan State, Eastern, Central, and Cornerstone at the event. 

Jackson College at Olivet Invitational: Jackson College finished 10th as a team in the Comet Open at Olivet. Preston MacKenzie led Jackson with a time of 18:21 in the 5K event finishing 68th. Zach Kubish finished 84th (19:06), Collin Doederlein placed 89th (19:55), Devin MacKenzie was 100th (21:38), and Jacob Weldon finished 112th (26:10) for JC. The Jets will run again in two weeks in the first conference meet near Grand Rapids. 

Women’s Soccer

Spring Arbor 7, Rochester 0: Kaylee Beekel, Isa Martinez, and Ariana Stoltzfus each scored a pair of goals for Spring Arbor at home. Mackenzie Fournier earned five saves and the win for SAU. 

Jackson College 3, Terra State 0: Jackson College improved to 4-2 overall with the road win Friday at Terra State Community College. The Jets will travel to Muskegon Community College Wednesday for a match starting at  4 p.m. 

Women’s Tennis

Spring Arbor 7, Indiana Kokomo 0: The Cougars swept Kokomo at home Friday. Spring Arbor will host Grace College today in a match scheduled for noon. 

Men’s Soccer

Jackson College 2,  Terra State 2: Emmanuel Ndjoli scored one goal and the team was credited with the other in a 2-2 tie Friday at Terra State Community College near Sandusky, Ohio. Jackson is now 0-2-2 for the season and will travel to Muskegon Community College Wednesday for a 2 p.m. start. 

Volleyball

Brynn Harmon

Jackson College at Owens Express Invitational: The Lady Jets swept Lakeland Community College 25-19, 25-16, 26-25 at the Owens Express Invitational in Ohio Friday. The Jets also defeated Clark State Community College 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22. Kenadee Tompkins dished 75 assists and scored four aces for JC. Jaden Bates led the Jets with 26 kills and four aces, Alivia Smith recorded four aces,  Allie Jarchow led in team blocks with six solo blocks and three assisted blocks, Brynn Harmon contributed four solo blocks, four assisted blocks, and 19 kills, Kate Gorney put down 21 kills, and Jadyn Richardson contributed three assisted blocks for the night and nine kills. The Jets are now 3-0 on the season.
