Girls Cross Country

Jackson at Bedford: Jackson High School failed to post a team score in the first Southeastern Conference jamboree. Grace Brown of Jackson finished 44th individually in 22:45. 

Boys Cross Country

Jackson at Bedford: The Vikings finished 12th as a team with a score of 379 in the first SEC jamboree of the season. Bryson White of Jackson placed 102nd in 19:39. 

Boys Soccer

Grass Lake 4, Columbia Central 1: The Warriors defeated Columbia Central at home Wednesday in what could be the battle for second place in the Cascades Conference. 

Manchester 6, Michigan Center 1: Spencer Berkeypile scored the only goal for MCHS and Keegan Gronski and Kaden Leighton combined for 14 saves in net. 

Girls Golf

Concord at Hudson Jamboree: The Yellow Jackets finished second to Clinton, 213-197 at Evergreen Golf Course in Hudson. Hannah Stimer finished second overall for Concord with a career-best  45 and Grace Thorrez finished sixth with a 51. 

Ann Arbor Pioneer at Jackson: Jackson shot a four-person total of 250 finishing second to Ann Arbor Pioneer who shot 187 at Sharp Park Golf Course. Avery White of Jackson finished seventh individually with a 57 and Brynn Griffith was eighth scoring a 59. 

Gabrielle Davis

Interstate-8 at Hastings: Western High School finished second with a four-person total of 406. Gabrielle Davis shot a 78 – a new personal best for 18 holes by nearly 10 strokes – at the Legacy of Hastings. Jaedyn Bartell of Northwest placed sixth with a 92 and Kaia Bruneel of Western was eighth scoring a 97. 

Boys Tennis

Western 8, Harper Creek 0: The Panthers swept Harper Creek at home Wednesday. Lucas Inosencio and Dylan Rogers earned a hard-fought 6-0, 5-7, 10-8 win at No. 2 doubles for the Panthers. Also winning doubles matches were Hudson Valentine/Josh Veneziano at No. 1; Morgan Devine/Marcus Sheppard at No. 3; and Aidan Carter/Jack Spooner earned an easy 6-0 and 6-0 win at No. 4 doubles for Western. 

College Sporting Events

Men’s Soccer

Spring Arbor 0, Madonna 0: The Cougars could only muster six shots in the home contest Wednesday against No. 23 ranked Madonna University. Matt LeBlanc earned the shutout in net for the Cougars. Spring Arbor is now 4-1-2 overall for the season.  The Cougars will travel to Ft. Wayne Saturday for a 4 p.m. match against Indiana Tech. 

Jackson College 3, Cleary University (JV) 1: The Jets earned a win at home Wednesday against Cleary University. Emmanuel Ndjoli scored all three goals for Jackson College. The Jets are now 2-2-3 on the season and will travel to Cuyahoga Community College Friday for a 4:30 p.m. match. 

Women’s Volleyball

Spring Arbor 3, Taylor 1: The Cougars improved to 7-6 overall on the season with the road win. Spring Arbor lost game one but stormed back to take the next three. Keely Hinzman finished with 15 kills, Camy Wedge dished 25 assists, and Kirstyn Throop finished with 18 digs for Spring Arbor. The Cougars will travel Friday to Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) for a 7 p.m. start.
