Volleyball

Western 3, Northwest 0: The Panthers won 25-14, 25-20, and 25-18 to remain undefeated in Interstate-8 Conference play. Finley Elder finished with 13 kills and DeAnna Barrett added 10 kills for Western. Brynn Rogers finished with 35 assists and Kayda Herrick finished with 17 digs for the Panthers. Jillian Osterberg dished 13 assists and Ava Golightly recorded six digs for Northwest. 

Coldwater 3, Lumen Christi 0: Coldwater High School won the match, but wasn’t easy with wins of 26-24, 25-22, and 25-23. 

Boys soccer

Jackson 6, Tecumseh 0: Oliver Smith scored twice and single goals were scored by Carsyn Barkholz, Jacob Chirackal, Emilio Arze-Novak, and Darrion Weller. Patrick Deer earned the shutout in goal for Jackson (1-8-1). 

Clinton 4, Columbia Central 0: The Golden Eagles fell on the road in Independent Soccer League action.  

Girls golf

Cascades Conference at East Jackson: The home team won its second jamboree of the season with a four-man total of 213. Grass Lake was second (220), Hanover-Horton finished third (224), Napoleon was fourth (236), and Michigan Center placed fifth (251). Top scorers include Anna McCubbins of Napoleon who shot a 42, Kylie McKee of Michigan Center and Mariah Kerley of East Jackson shot 48s, Jessica Swihart of Michigan Center shot a 49, and Julie Johnston of Grass Lake and East Jackson’s Addisyn Rudd carded 50s. 

Boys tennis

Lumen Christi 8, Pennfield 0: The Titans won three contested matches in doubles, giving up only one game. Brendan Stevens/Cade Nelson won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles; Brody Gregory/Jake King won by the same score at No. 2 doubles; and Boyer Zimmerman/Holden Luce won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. 

Western 8, Marshall 0: The Panthers celebrated senior night with an Interstate-8 Conference win. 

Northwest 8, Hastings 0: The Mounties improved to 13-2 overall with an easy home win against Hastings. The Mounties won three contested singles matches while giving up only one game. Mason Schroeder won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles; Drew Maples won by the same score at No. 2 singles; and Alex Thrun won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
