Football

Addison 54, Homer 20: It took the Panthers a little bit of time to get going, but they improved to 6-0 with the win. Addison has now defeated all four of the new Cascades Conference schools – four weeks in a row. Spencer Brown scored four touchdowns and ran for nearly 150 yards against the Trojans. Jaxen Sword threw for 92 yards and three touchdowns for Addison. Byron Creech caught two of the touchdown passes including a 53-yard reception to begin the fourth quarter. Parker Chamberlin threw three touchdown passes for Homer (0-6) in the loss. 

Volleyball

Columbia Central at Napoleon: Napoleon went 2-1 on the night while the Golden Eagles were 0-3 against the Pirates, Clinton, and Blissfield. Napoleon defeated CCHS and Blissfield but lost to Clinton. Maggie Beer finished with 29 kills and 29 assists and Audrey Chapman recorded 43 digs for the Pirates. CCHS was led by Blythe McClain with a career-high 11 kills and Kenzie Duncan recorded 45 digs. 

Concord Tri-meet: Grass Lake defeated Concord and Hillsdale Academy at Concord Thursday night. Mia Buttigieg finished with 33 assists and 23 service points, Olivia Turner tallied 11 kills and 25 digs, and Adrianna Kline added 12 kills for Grass Lake (18-2-1). Concord defeated Hillsdale Academy 25-18 and 25-19 in the opening match of the night. 

Calhoun Christian 3, Jackson Christian 2: The Royals lost 15-12 in the fifth set of a home match. Jackson Christian was led by Vivyan Khon with 13 aces, Malia Kniffen finished with eight kills, and Madi Conrad dished 15 assists. 

Western 3, Hillsdale 0: Abby Nieswender finished with 38 assists, Anna McDonald was 100 percent serving with seven aces, and Aubree Allen and Bayli Stewart each contributed nine kills for Western (20-4).

Michigan Center 3, Quincy 1 

Northwest at Stockbridge: The Mounties lost 25-17 and 25-22 to the host school in one of its matches. 

Boys Soccer

Jackson Christian 8, Rudolph Steiner 2: J.D. Locke scored four goals for Jackson Christian in the win. Locke now has 22 goals for the season. Christian Guerrero also scored two goals for Jackson Christian (8-3-3).

Hastings 4, Northwest 3: Rubenn Lanphear Jr. scored all three goals for the Mounties, assisted by Teagen Hudgins, Todd Affarano and Thomas Fall. 

Marshall 5, Western 0: The Panthers are now 8-5-1 on the season.

Girls Golf

Cascades Jamboree at East Jackson: Columbia Central High School continues to win conference jamborees taking the East Jackson event at Calderone Golf Club with a four-person total of 179. East Jackson was second (204), Michigan Center placed third (216), Napoleon was fourth (225), Grass Lake placed fifth (241), and Hanover-Horton was sixth (263). Logan Bentley of CCHS led all golfers with a 38, Anna McCubbins of Napoleon was second with 41, Jessica Swihart of Michigan Center placed third scoring a 44, and Kylie McKee of Michigan Center and Kelsey Fausz of Columbia Central tied for fourth with 45s. 

Boys Tennis

Jackson 7, Tecumseh 1: The Vikings swept the singles’ competition with victories by Andrew Hesslau, Ty Northrup, Truong Huynh, and Tobin Warren at Nos. 1-4 respectively. 

Girls Swimming

Jackson 115, Tecumseh 64: The Vikings earned a home win in Southeastern Conference action Thursday night. Everette Drummond of Jackson won the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.71) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:20).
